Im very confused... Was Mr. Freeze cancelled for Raging Bull, or the Gurnee Village Board? Or was it never planned at all?

It was planned but due to problems with other Mr. Freeze rides they cancelled it.

I was under the impression that Six Flags approached the Gurnee board (or didn't) too late, and they we're unable to get approval so they sent it to St. Louis. That's why we got Raging Bull the next year. We also got Vu' and V2 to make up the gap of a shuttle coaster.

It was a big deal to get a hyper coaster anyway. We did not lose out. This could have easily gone on the topic "Questions and Ideas" topic.

^ We may not have gotten Bull in 1999, but I'm sure even if we did get Mr. Freeze, we'd still have a B&M hyper by now.

Actually, wouldn't SF have had to put in the order for Bull a few years in advance? B&M are pretty busy as they only do 3 coasters a year max (I hear).

Most ride makers like intamin, b&m, etc. plan 2-3 years ahead. maybe bull was meant for another park.

^Bull was meant for SF STL. They even made the merchandise for it, which is the same as the Great America ones. You can now buy it at the discount store next to the Giant Wheel.

So if it went there it would have been called raging bull? And I thought there were other names proposed for bull like stampede and undertaker.

^ I doubt that they would put Raging Bull in at St. Louis under that name. We actually had SWT.

I heard it was supposed to have buildings themed to 'The Ole' South' and you would basically fly through there.

^Probably like the buildings on the Bizarro's. But SFOG's Goliath supposed to go to SFStL, so they got jipped with a hyper twice? That sucks.

Where would it have gone, Yankee Harbor? It doesn't seem like it would fit without something being removed.
You can put it on the board...yes!

Where Camp Cartoon is. Probably a little more room used though.

So, SFGAm was in line to get yet another clone but those plans fell through... This mindset we all have about GAm being a second-thought to corporate continues. It probably could have fit in the Sky Whirl/eventual Deja Vu spot

No it's too long. I believe it would have started out somewhere around V2 is and continued into camp cartoon. At least that's what I've heard.

Wasn't the St. Louis Mr. Freeze SBNO in 1997? This would have put it constructed before that Gurnee zoning meeting that DejaVu2001 posted.

I heard that Raging Bull was an in-park purchase and corporate had no clue what was going on as they had planned for a Medusa clone to go in that area. Apparently, corporate got a whiff of what was happening a little too far into the construction process but really did push for GAm to dismantle it...but I'm not too sure how they convinced them otherwise.

I doubt Great America can personally afford a 12 million dollar B&M without consent from SFI.

This is so interesting. So what kind of themeing were they planning to add to raging bull? And what happened to make them cancel?
