B&M/Mack are not working with Six Flags anytime soon. Six Flags could still move a few rides around as the Ride Rotation program makes sense now. No need to spend money on new rides when parks could trade and we could get a ride we never dreamed of riding.
I can't express in words how much I want to yell at certain members right now. I'm this close to going T Biggs on everyone. Page 85 was horrendous. So much "ha I told you so."
This topic has turned into "Who can be the better coaster dork: The Official Topic." With people posting like they had a Genie tell them all the amusement park secrets.
I'm glad certain members of you have contacts within European Rides companies who are willing to give out pertinent business information. Oh wait, you don't. But its okay, because Screamscape confirmed it.
Oh, and just so everyone knows, the park is actually getting a new woodie next year. The Lemon Chill Guy told me so.

GURNEE -- Six Flags Great America has canceled plans to install another roller coaster, according to Hank Salemi, general manager.
Salami gave no reason for the cancellation and no indication whether this might be a temporary or permanent situation.
It was believed that the roller coaster in question was a stand-up that had recently been dismantled at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom to make way for a water park.
Six Flags Great America already has numerous other roller coasters and thrill rides.
Village Administrator Jim Hayner announced the change of plans for Six Flags at Monday night's Village Board meeting. The company had applied for a zoning variance to accommodate the new roller coaster.
"Mr. Salami called and requested that we pull his roller coaster zoning request off tonight's agenda," Hayner said.
The proposal was dropped with no indication that it would return for further consideration at some later time.
Trustees had expected to vote on the proposed variation Monday night. Approval was necessary to install the new ride. The Zoning Board of Appeals had already approved the proposal earlier.
Under a 1980 conditional-use permit that sets zoning controls for the theme park, the proposed permit would have allowed roller coasters up to 151 feet in height, and a zoning variance for any higher structure to a maximum 310 feet in height.
The new roller coaster was planned to replace the Space Shuttle ride in the Space Port area. It would have been located east of the main park entrance, south of the 310-foot Sky Trek Tower, and west of Hurricane Harbor water park.
You guys all just have to take a chill pill, because we only know rumors until July 1st. That's when we will know if all the rumors are true if not then we can begin again to analyze the other rumors of where else Chang would go. I hope they keep GASM, it may be rough but its historic in a way.
"Park staff later claimed that they were offered a hundred bucks a pop to try to the slide, but refused after seeing that test dummies often emerged on the other end dismembered. The looping slide was actually closed down for most of the park’s life due to these injury concerns."
I cannot for any reason cry over Chang. Yes, I badly wanted a new thrill ride. Yes, it has been 7 years but Superman was no record breaker and 100 feet is nothing to get excited over. I like it but it failed to become an iconic experience like Raging Bull and V2. If this was ANY other type BUT a stand up I would be screaming in a pillow now. I just don't like standing when I ride a roller coaster. Chang is from 1997 (when it was being put together) and currently is no top rated ride. I hoped Chang coming would signal the end of Iron Wolf but oh well. It will continue rotting away per say in the back of the park till one day it is torn down for a small kiddie ride. And that will be it for a stand up in our park.
Here's an idea why don't you all put away your crystal balls and sit back and wait and see what the park officially announces they are doing for next year? There are plenty of topics available for you to "discuss" what you think the park should do and the I told you so bickering in this forum is nuts. I think everybody needs to take a step back and just wait until the park officially announces what they are doing because until then nobody really knows.

A new attraction for Hurricane Harbor makes as much sense as having 2 stand ups running in any given season. The water park got a new addition in 2006. The ride side of the park has not been given a major ride since 2003. And in 2009 our addition that year was a WATER RIDE.
SFGAm used to own more land adjacent to the highway. The original plan was to build the waterpark on the other side of the highway, as well as a hotel and Citywalk type entertainment village. They couldnt come to an agreement with the village on re-doing the roads so the idea was scrapped and they ended up selling the land. So to answer your question yes, SFGAm now doesn't own any more land than what is in their property borders and the land outside the park is all developed.
I was so mad when I read that article cause they sold it to what is now the industrial park...that would have been amazing & they would have had so much future expansion. It isn't a small chunk of land, its pretty big. Now I wonder what if they bought out the properties on the other side of AE...thatd be nice but mostlikely not gonna happen.
As for "Chang" though none of it ever made sense, due to SFSTl NEEDING it, when it comes down to SFGAm or SFGAdv, we "need" it more than they do, but there goes that, I'm no longer excited & already picture it in its new setting.
As for Mack, I honestly thought wed see another addition from them this year due to the back to back DK & BB, I thought hey a water coaster would nice cause they do them best, but a megalooper...no. Haha

I'm beginning to think that the article was a fake. Lets think about it....reading through the article again I spotted a few things.
1) They spelled "Hank Salemi" Wrong two out of three times. 2) No Quotes from the park president for a source 3) The Height Restriction was wrong. It says 151ft, it's 150ft.
A real news article does not post articles like that, they get the best of proof-reading. News publishers usually have quotes to make the article credible. Just like they taught you in high school, no one will believe your essay unless it uses quotes.

All of this came out so soon I am still doubting this (nothing but he said/she said) all because of them not going to one meeting. Again, Screamscape, fan sites and wikipedia are NOT sources people! And thus far we have very little to go on.

They're not seeking Chang anymore.
The word "cancelled" was not mentioned. And Chang is a "new opportunity"....Or I should say it's just one on the table. Which ever one is the best fit will be the chosen option. It's like in the Simpsons Movie where The EPA president leaves out 4 options for consideration.

great point....What has screamscape been right about? Yep, not ringing a bell....

I have said this several times here, and apparently some people aren't getting the message. So I will try and say this as nicely as possible without some of you people getting to bent out of shape.
Having a civilized discussion about Chang/SFGAM/2011 whatever is perfectly fine, and great for the site and a discussion.
But, what we've seen in the last few days is just plain garbage and isn't creating anything but flame wars and nonsense.
If you want to have a civil discussion that's great and your more then welcome too, but if you choose to spew garbage, and create trouble for other members on the site, then The Moderators will have no problem suspending your account from posting for a little while to make this garbage stop.
Lets please try and act like intelligent people and engage in a great discussion that is not only thought provoking but actually worth reading.
Let me say I love Six Flags Great America so much I would rather wait and get special attraction made just for us than receive a 13 year old stand up just for the heck of getting something bigger than Dark Knight. There are SO many other rides in the chain I would love to see a part of the RRP but Chang was never a favorite. Stand ups are not for everyone. So I am going to be positive and say whatever happens, happens. My favorite ride was taken away in 2007 anyway. 2 actually.

Dejavu and SWF?
Nah, I just want to see SOMETHING. Please give SWF's spot some landscaping work and take down it queue line bridge.....That's starting to become an eyesore.
