I just was on screamscape and they say we aren't getting chang anymore. But we might get a water coaster.

^Sweet, less lines for me.

I would be happy with a new watercoaster. I never go in the waterpark because it's usually crowded, but I might stop by just for that. I think that Ilovthevu has a good point though, there are definitely many park improvements that Great America could make which I think would be a better investment than Chang or any other coaster.

They should get someone like Steve jobs in charge of SFGAm. Someone who knows what we need at the park not what we want all the time. Oh and since HH will expand towards the front of the park, could it be an separate entry than the regular park, different admission?

I really don't know when Screamscape became a reliable source, but I'm pretty sure some random person decided to tell Screamscape they think we are getting a water coaster. And for people not buying a season pass because they are just too upset and aren't having fun with what the park has now, I wonder why you go to the park now in the first place if you are so bored? Grow up, and stop trying to "punish" the park because you missed out on a used stand up coaster.

I am not trying to argue with you but Screamscape usually hits right on the dot when it comes to stuff like this. I am pretty sure they are going to replace GASM with Chang, but I won't believe the HH expansion part. Its does not feel like a smart business move still to me. I know others here will argue with me because I said that but I just feel strongly about that opinion.

When the hell did all of this develop??

A watercoaster??? What a load of BS. If that is true it will be A MAJOR disappointment. With a waterpark, roaring rapids, and two other water type coasters, and Buccaneer Battle, why in the HELL do we need yet another water ride?? People don't want anymore water attractions. Most people don't like getting their clothes drenched during the day and there is way more than enough attractions for those who do.

This could be very disappointing if true. As if Great Adventure doesn't already have good enough rides. How about disassemble Kingda Ka and we will take that and they can have Chang.

Very disappointed if this turns out to be true...and enough of out of you telling people to "appreciate" what you have at the park... people have every right to sound off about being disappointed in the lack of thrill rides being added. Its going on 10 years since we have had a quality coaster added for the thrill seekers. To be honest, Superman barely fits into that category as well.

^And yet Superman always has a line during the summer.

There's a difference between water rides in the dry park and water rides in the waterpark. Some people just don't want to get wet in their clothes, but everyone in the waterpark has suits on and are there to get wet.

^The water park hits capacity daily and 3 of the 4 water rides have a 45 min wait by noon. I'd say people love getting wet at the parks.

It's been confirmed with a ride supervisor at GADV that GASM is closing July 1st and being replaced with Chang. It's not a rumor anymore, it's just that Six Flags has yet to affirm it. They probably won't affirm it until GASM is being taken down, because they don't want a riot on their hands.

And I constantly hear from everyone how much of a great ride Demon is, and the CC says it's one of the two Arrow loopers that he doesn't hate, the other being Loch Ness Monster. GASM is a horrible ride, and it needs to be closed much more than Demon does (from what a good friend at SFGAm says). If it comforts you any, Demon will close in a few years as well if it's true about parts being expensive for Arrow coasters.

Park employees do lie, you know. It's not like they're going to risk their job and leak out private information such as a good-sized attraction like Chang. Until we see either A: Scream Machine coming down, or B: More track or land work going on at SFGAm, I say treat everything as rumors.

Besides, I want to say this whole Chang going to GAdv thing started as a mis-spelling on Facebook...

Darling, Demon is far older than GASM and Shockwave, and it's still here. If parts were expensive it would have died years ago. July 1st will be the day that we will know about Chang.

If it was a typo, then why would they have mentioned GASM?

I don't know why, but I really have a feeling that Chang really might go to Great Adventure, I'm not 100%. But I just have a feeling.

You know what. Right now, I just want SOMETHING for 2011. Although I'm quite sure that if we don't get chang, we're doomed.

And why are you doomed David? As you've said many times, you're the most profitable/attended park in the chain. A used coaster which is a bigger version of one already in the park wouldn't make a blip in attendance at all. How would they market it? It was a bad decision in the first place.

It seems like from what you guys are saying the water park is a big hit. Why not keep adding to it? Make it a separate gate to cash in some more money. Face it, Chang isn't coming.

You know SFKK had a water coaster named Deluge. You think Six Flags can sneak that out of there too?
A water coaster is nothing comparable to Roaring Rapids, Buccaneer Battle, or Logger's Run. You get multiple airtime on the ride for goodness sakes - at least at Magic Waters.

In my opinion, our park doesn't need BOTH Yankee Clipper, and Logger's Run. To me, they should have fixed the pool for Splash Water, and forgot Buccaneer Battle. Water coasters are so fun, and a worthy addition to the park though.

Probably the reason why they are willing to get rid of GASM is because of popularity (Yes, as said already), but also what type of demographic it has compared to the Demon's demographic. People at SFGAm are so worried about keeping Demon because it's treated as a kids first looper type of ride, but GASM is just another thrill roller coaster at SFGAdv. For some of Demon's harnesses, they just got new ones for it last year maybe. I wonder if the wheels for Demon, they could get from Vekoma as they have that ride at Six Flags Over Georgia made by Vekoma - Ninja - and it seems like the same type of wheels just by observation.

This is Viper's wheels at Magic Mountain (Arrow)
http://rcdb.com/25.htm?p=76

This is Ninja's wheels at Over Georgia (Vekoma)
http://rcdb.com/25.htm?p=76

I think the thing is you can keep on putting money into something, but if people aren't riding the ride, than the thing to do is to just get rid of it. Cedar Point on the other hand just keeps roller coasters forever it seems because of the roller coaster record, and they have enough space, but it is costing them the money for maintenance.

why would you be doomed if you don't get chang? thats really dum, you all live in Chicago! one of the most populated cities in America!

It looks pretty obvious that you all may get a watercoaster. Look at the location were Chang was supposed to be located! right next to the water park! Their isn't enough room for other things besides just that!

Water Coasters are fun. Its like the new generation of Waterslides. Have any of you seen or been on the wildebeest? or Deluge at Kentucky Kingdom? their both amazing, feels like your on a real roller coaster too... You guys or TEENAGERS! need to stop winning.

Deluge has airtime, chang however did not! Deluge is staying at the park but I hope Ed Hart gives it to you all and he create something like Wildeebeast!

I know when water park expansion come to your mind its yuk, omg, water! but like I said before when you all are in the water, you have so much fun then the dry side of the park

Demon is a popular ride, and as someone said, a good ride for a kid's first looper. Great America is willing to spend the money on it. GASM, however, is a ride generally hated at GADV, so it made no sense to pay high prices for parts for a coaster that most people don't like.

All the gravel from underneath GASM has been taken away, so it looks as if they're ready to rip up the parking lot underneath it and plant grass. A ride supervisor would not lie about Chang, the last thing they want is a bunch of people worked up about nothing. On July 1st we'll know for sure, but it makes a lot of sense that Chang would be coming to GADV.

If we get a Water Coaster, i will no longer be getting a Season Pass. I will save throughout the year and make a few weekend visits to Cedar Point!

You guys are seriously over-reacting. SFGAm is a great park (and from what's been yelled at me, better than SFGAdv). You shouldn't take away your season pass just because you don't get ANOTHER stand-up coaster. Enjoy what you have. Don't take it for granted, like we did with GASM.

Wow, people will boycott the park if it gets something new. I sure am glad I'm not as sad and pathetic as those that say that.

Fixing the Demon is much cheaper than newer Arrow rides that were meant to go all out with no regard for the future of the ride.
