Iron Wolf's Future

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I just think it is stupid to think the park will keep Wolf when it has the same type of ride coming in only with a better reputation and Wolf's lines now are no longer than Shockwave's were in the end. Shockwave was taken out for two reasons mainly. It was rough/bad shape and nobody rode it. Otherwise it would still be here. The park knew taking out Shockwave would not upset many people.

Oh and I do have to say again if we got something to cover the whole in County Fair it wouldn't look so bad by Wolf where very few even look in that direction these days. Most just pass by the ride without noticing it.

Where didn't you say it was old? ;)

It has been torturing fans for a majority of those 20 years and not even Shockwave lasted 20 years.

I think the smartest thing that SF could do if they truly wanted to keep Iron Wolf, and the simplest also, is just slap a coat of paint on that. What I mean is paint it a noticeable color, that's not brown. Iron Wolf might have a couple more years left in it, without changing out all the trains, by just revamping public support for it. It would be hilarious if they painted it the colors that Deja Vu was, bright green and blue. The reason I think this is because it just blends in with the trees in the worst location ever, at the back of the park hidden by a white monster, two yellow coasters, and it's just not tall enough to get attention without some color attached.
"Park staff later claimed that they were offered a hundred bucks a pop to try to the slide, but refused after seeing that test dummies often emerged on the other end dismembered. The looping slide was actually closed down for most of the park’s life due to these injury concerns."

My friend asked me, "Is it just a drop, loop and then it's over?!" I explained that it's hard to see Iron Wolf, but there are also a few twists and turns, and a corkscrew.

hah. :P

If you squint really hard you can almost see the elements that are not the loop. Seriously could you pick a worse color for an already small overshadowed roller coaster? No, so I say paint it bright pink with polka dots and you got yourself a winner!

Wow. This is my first post in a looong time. Great to re-join the community once again. But anyways, I think that the reason people don't like Iron Wolf is the fact of how uncomfortable it is to ride. I think its the most uncomfortable ride there. One of the employess I spoke to at SFGAM explained to me how and whats the best way to ride to coaster. Basically you have to ride train #1. There are numbers on the trains to distinguish them. When you get on the train put your feet as far back as they will go so that your heels will touch the back, and most importantly make sure your legs are straight and not bending at all whatsoever. I tried this, and it made the ride actually a little more bearable. I think I can ride it now more. I'll ride Iron Wolf if the other coasters have a significantly long wait and the wait for Iron Wolf is almost nothing, which is most of the time. What else can replace Iron Wolf right now?? As mentioned before, its a 2-3 years wait, so i'm sure, er should I say I know there will be rumors and people hyped about it and threads everywhere and whatever else is usually expected. Only time will tell.

It's like a burgundy mixed with brown. It's quite odd, but fits the theme well.

I just don't see how a theme as good as a Wolf is that boring and plain out bad. Like if you google wolf, the images are mostly white and gray that would be cool and at least stand out. They could even use blue, like the mascot of Iron Wolf is not brown at all. Plus its Iron, a metal, they should make it more stand-outy haha.

Iron Wolf isn't likely to survive more than three more seasons, talking about a paint job is unnecessary.

It could survive a lot longer if six flags was smart enough to put some time and effort into revamping it. They could just do floorless coaster with hip restraints, I mean sure you have to buy new trains, but that's cheaper than a new roller coaster. Although, I swear to god if they put another wiggles world or child's play area I will boycott six flags.

You know what's sad is I WANT a Thomas Town... :/ haha the best one by FAR is SF Americas...go to www.newsplusnotes.com (one of my fav sites). They did an Amazing report on SFA TT.

Iron Wolf would look very nice with a charcoal grey & dark blue almost black color scheme...new paint would be nice Davey boy.

If Chang is built then I would think IW's days are numbered. As david (repeatedly) has told us, the ride isn't old persay, but it is outdated. The "stand-up" gimmick is long over and Iron Wolf's reputation is one that is uncomfortable, painful and short. And I don't have any evidence to prove this, but I would think Iron Wolf is the least popular coaster in the park not including Spacely's. It's pushed in the back of the park largely hidden from view, and is almost a chore to ride.

I think it would be best for the park for Iron Wolf to leave. There's a large enough area there to play with something new in a couple of years, and really, I get the sense the park is ready to cut it loose too. As many have brought up, IW hasn't had a new coat of paint or been updated in years.

Seriously, pardon my language, but I was P.O.ed when they removed Deja Vu for that little water ride. When I went before they put it in, the employee there told me they were going to do another wiggle's world, and we were both pretty upset. I may not boycott, but I won't visit as often or be a season pass holder. I know its important to appeal to families, but it's kinda upsetting to see them removing "big kid" attractions for baby rides.

We won't be seeing another Wiggles World type attraction, unless it's like a Mr. Six's Splash Island in HH.

I too was highly upset, it was my favorite ride in the park. I actually cried, I know what a puss right?! Haha I was pi$#@d off as well. Now when I came in openin day the year after it was removed, it still was an empty plot with a piece of the spike up, my friend & I were wearin these ridiculous shirts we made sayin "RIP DEJA VU! @*$# this, were headin to CedarPoint" which was true only cause we were workin there haha BUT Hank Salemi came up to us & said ogh so you're the people I've heard about all day! We told him we were highly upset & felt they made a mistake despite the problems it had. He told us "I promise you, what goes in next year WILL BE AN INSPIRATION TO BURN THOSE TSHIRTS!, you'll hopefully be happy what will replace your dejavu" .....ummm I haven't burned it yet! Soo yeah.

Anyways... Ugh. I understand IW may be limited & the standup "gimmick" is over but that's all sad. I love standups. I know I'm crazed huh?

I have a big feeling the park was expecting Buccaneer Battle to be far more interactive. I went on it (for the first time) last week, and was horribly surprised with how bad it is. I mean, when we left we weren't anymore wet then when we came in from roaring rapids. None of the ride effects actually got us wet, they would spray well before we entered the area.

Didn't Shapiro also say somewhere that they were disappointed with Buccaneer Battle's attendance or something like that?

I did the exact same thing with the shirts and such. I still haven't gotten the paint off of them haha. I was really sad that deja vu was torn down like I was angry and sad. It was definetly the best ride I have ever rode (besides millennium force). It was like being reborn because it was so smooth and always had a decent line. I hope Iron Wolf doesn't get the same fate because it still runs okay all it needs is new trains to make it smoother and a re-theming or paintjob. Sadly, I think they may just pull a shockwave and scrap it or pull a z-force and give it away.
