2010 opening day April 17th?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Right now, the weather models forecast an approaching Warm Front from the South, as it approaches the area Friday, temps will rise as warmer moist air envelops the area. Friday Night the front is close enough to start raining, starting south and most likely covering the whole area in the pre-dawn hours Saturday.

With temperature ranges from the Mid 50s North and Close to the lake ( AKA Gurnee) and the Mid 60s to the South Joliet and further South, Id expect to have Thunderstorms first start to develop in the South in the early part of the Morning and then spread north as this front approaches.

The real threat according to the Navy, US, Canadian forecast models looks to be on Sunday when we could have as much as 1.5 inches of rain in some parts of the area.

If I where planning to go to the park Sunday, Id consider thinking about changing plans since usually with the amount of rain projected, forecasts are pretty accurate. Saturday im not saying is going to be bright and sunny, but it SHOULD be dry for some of the day. But cool.

So, you're saying that Saturday may be early rain, but should clear up later in the day? Sounds ok, cause we're going at 12:30.

Thank you Brian, at least someone else agrees with me. Will everyone just chill out about the rain? Like I said rain, snow, shine, sleet, hail, tornado, earthquake etc. I am still going. I will just dress warm probably the same clothes I wore during FF if anyone remembers *laughs* anyways, last year there was a day where it downpoured for a good half hour and it cleared up right after it. If you're so worried about the rain then don't go, go next weekend. Simple as that.

I think so, I was also there one year when the tornado sirens were going off. We had to stay in GMH till they said it was clear. Just prepare for the weather and suck it up. I have never gone to Opening Day, and I am not going to let the rain ruin my chance of having a good time.

Pretty sure that if there was Snow, sleet, hail, tornado or earthquake you WOULDN"T be going to the park, because it'd be closed.

I'm down for a little rain, just as long as the park doesn't close the majority of the rides, especially ones like Bull, and Eagle.

Best ride to ride in bad weather...Fiddlers Fling. It takes a lot for it to close. I rode it in a complete down pour and there was some distant lighting too. I think I rode it five times because it was the only ride open in the park. By the time I got off I was completely soaked all over. It felt like I was in a pool.

Well based on the forecast now, Saturday's temperature forecast has gone from 70 down to 50, and both days are looking like definite rain.

The temperature is pretty low compared to what we are used to lately. We have been blessed with mid 60's and above for the last few weeks. Temps in the 50's with occasional rain is going to be pretty uncomfortable for most.

I really want to go as well, but at this point it is looking like it may not be worth it for most. The only reason I would go is just because it is "opening day" and as if that should really mean that much anyway.

Looks like the nice weather we have had is catching up with us and it is going to be in the 50's all week long. Welcome back April. Too bad the park wasn't open when it was like 70 in March :x

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... 87.936&e=0

BTW, I would refer to that for weather. That is from the National Weather Service, and trust me... Weather.com (The Weather Channel) and most other news outlets simply steal the forecast info from the NWS.

It just now changed to scattered thunderstorms, it was just rain about an hour ago. Still 70% chance so we'll see what they say tomorrow.

Everyone is so bummed about the weather. It is the SAME every year. It can't rain continuously for hours and hours and hours - there will be some breaks and if you can wait for it you'll get a ton of re-rides. Go see some shows, or ride the Chubasco.

I could be totally weird and just love to be at the park, even if I am not currently riding anything. That being said, the weather will change in the next 1.5 days so everyone cheer up. What's wrong with getting a little wet? It will make Buccaneer Battle that much more fun!

Less than 2 days to opening day - let's change this boring thread of "rain, omg bad weather, i'm not going" to "holy crap it's raining i am going to totally soak you on BB and then spin dry on Chubasco."

COMMON GUYS - LESS THAN 2 DAYS!!!!

Yeah there is, if the rides aren't running you can find something to do inside. Go to the games that are indoors and play those for awhile till it clears up. It'll be ok

I apologize for seeming pessimistic in terms of the weather. I am just a realistic person. I wouldn't expect constant downpours either.

With that said... which of the shows will be up and running on Opening Day?
