One of my friends wants to donate clothes to get the extra free ticket. Will the extra free ticket be good for any other day during the season? Im assuming it will be good, but im not sure.
Why so serious? If there are some scattered showers you are all but guaranteeing yourself an empty day at the park!
You want a 70 degree day, mostly sunny, on a Saturday with the b1g1 free promotions and free tickets floating around? I am not going, but if I was... a little bit of rain is always a good thing at GAm
I doubt it will get rained out. They will open the park regardless and there will be enough people there to keep them from closing. Besides, even it rains for half of the day there will still be enough rides open to ride in the rain. Just bring a set of dry clothes to change into, or 3.
Planned to hit the park Sunday. Burbank is just too far from Gurnee to drive for an hour and then spend half the day in the rain with rides down and walking around wet the whole day. If I lived closer and it was a smaller chance maybe but with it going up to 70% chance now this weekend looks like a a washout at Six Flags Great America.
You're freaking out over nothing. Sure, a few people agree that it's going to rain. THIS DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL RAIN. Weather.com is still reporting only a 40% Chance.
"I've been told that some part of every wish will be heard but lately I lost sight of the truth in those words."
I'm sure it will not rain all those days however 70% chance for me on Sunday is too big and if does not change by Friday oh well. Just pisses me off it has been dry every weekend for so long and of course opening weekend it will rain. Tomorrow is Wednesday. The forecast for rain has been in place since when this weekend? If u can wait another week follow my lead. Especially since this time of year is not perfect with cool temperatures in Gurnee and add the wind when u r on a ride and it will be effing cold.
The park NEVER shuts down for just rain. It could be raining for hours and they will still be open. The chances of a complete washout are also pretty small.
I wouldn't say there is no chance, but for the most part, it will typically be on and off showers if anything.
why again would u want to go to the park when it rains? Rides will be up and down all day and u will be walking around wet or with an umbrella that u have to leave nehind or spend $1 to put in a locker

I'm going rain or shine, sometime last season or in 08 can't remember it was an 80% chance of rain...did it rain? No it didn't rain, so bring a poncho or something to keep you dry and warm clothes. I'm not going to let rain screw up my opening day.

I'm sorry, but it has shut down once I've been at the park for rain. It was open till about 1 or 2 pm, and it closed down for the rest of the day. This was because it was constantly raining from open till that time. It really has to do with attendance though. If the park had 20,000 people and it was raining, the park wouldn't close, but that wasn't the case.
Now, if you mean the park won't open for the day because it's raining, well it should open even if it is raining, but I remember that one time the park never opened. Maybe, that was because of snow or something, and the park on their website told people we aren't going to open.
Can we stop talk about the rain? You guys are worrying to much. I don't want to be stressed about this, worrying about it. Hope for the best, and the weather might change.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
^In 08, it rained the last weekend before Fright Fest and never opened. Then again, I could not see more than 6 inches out the window until it was nothing but a wall of water.
Rain will not hurt you thus either take the risk to go or not. Complaining on here will not change the weather.
Sorry to stress some of you out lol .. some of us are just saying not to worry so much about the rain. It is just opening day, if all doesn't work out, you can just make it out next weekend! Its not that big of a deal!
According to the National Weather Service (which is the only weather you should check NOT Accuweather) :
Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 61.
Saturday Night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 46.
Sunday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 54
This looks like it is going to be fine, albeit a little bit chilly. Seems to me like a pretty good opening weekend. Crowds will be small, and the weather should hold up for the most part. No the sun will not be out with butterflies and people skipping around like a beautiful spring day....but enjoy it for what it is worth!

I 100% agree. I don't see why people are getting all upset over rain. I'm not even looking at the weather. I will on Saturday to figure out what I need to wear (Shorts, long pants, have a coat, maybe bring gloves, etc). But, that is about it. If by some freak of nature I wake up and its snowing, you can bet your bottom dollar I will still get in my car and drive to the park. Unless I show up at the park and there is a sign that says they are closed, I'm going NO MATTER what the weather is. This is opening day, and weather is not going to stop me from going to the park.
Now, if I get there, and they are closed...well, then I guess I get back in my car and go home. If they close the park 2 hours after they open, so what. Will I be pissed off at them? NO. Will I come back on Sunday and try again? YOU BET. That is why I have a season pass...so if the park does not open a day, or they close early for whatever reason, I can just come back another day.
^ and that's also because you don't live in Green Bay, Wisconsin and only make it once or twice a year. Heaven forbid I don't want to get turned down at the doors.
Have a take and don't suck, it's the Jim Rome Show!
