I don't see a reason either why the Village of Gurnee would say "No" to the request either. Prior to 1976, Gurnee was a small farm community. There are a few older members on here that may remember what Gurnee looked like back in the late 70's. West of I-94 on Grand Ave to US Route 45 was all farmland. No Gurnee Mills, no Joe's Crab Shack, Cracker Barrel, Outback, etc. None of that was there. It was open land as far as you could see.
Great America was, and continues to be a big income generator for the village. For the village to say "No" would be like cutting off the hand that feeds them. I know that a lot of the money the village has in its budget each year comes from the income generated by the park.
I really just wanted to point this out as it is something that could happen. While we all want a big new coaster, it is up to the ZBA and the Village of Gurnee to decide if the park gets a new coaster or not.
As always, if I find out any information on this from the village, I'll pass it on to the group in this thread.
The residents around the park never complain about the noise of the rides per sey however the sound of people screaming is what gets them really ticked off. Especially with V2.

Wouldn't it be about as loud as say superman or iron wolf? It's just another B&M chain lift coaster.
What's really funny, is that you think I'm from the GP (General Public). When indeed, I most likely know far more about the coaster, as I've rode it multiple times.
As much as I know we are not the only park in need of a ride like Chang, of all the major parks in the chain (and the ones that bring in the most people each year), we have definitely been shafted the most when it comes to big ride additions since 2003/2004. HH is not considered a ride per se and has since been put in many parks in the chain. I really think as much as we say it isn't so the majority of the people I talk to say they visit Cedar Point more than Six Flags even though it is farther. So CP is competition even though it is technically not in the Chicago/Midwest area.
