Not really saying it was not old news! It just irks me when people complain about it being old news and being all proud to point out its old news! Most of us do not spend every waking moment of our lives on here reading every word of every thread ever created. So to us, its news, for one because its not hiding in the middle of another topic
Well...things will either go really well or really bad
As stated above, everything was basically done in-house with the exception of the actors, which can potentially mean free haunted houses and walkthroughs this year...but then it also makes me think about seperate fees and admission because as I looked at the "top 10 reasons" to get a 2010 pass, it mentions nothing about admission to Fright Fest (again, this could be something I'm looking wayyy to far into) but it is something that I noticed.
JPM sent out an email a few months ago confirming this.

This makes sense to me. What Six Flags is trying to do is eliminate extra costs, and this is one step they are making. I honestly care more about the props than the actors for Fright Fest though. To me, the locations of the props made last years Fright Fest not so good. Them putting the alien stuff in the Looney Tunes area just didn't seem right. I miss it when all the alien stuff was in Hometown Square especially the trucks. They took that stuff out because of Whizzer (mostly), Triple Play, the Hometown Fun Machine, and they introduced Wiggle's World. How are the toddlers going to get on their rides without being scared?

This has been one of my problem with the actors they had around the park. With the park design, there is really no way to have scare actors without scaring families going to and from the kids areas. Hopefully, Six Flags figures something out for this upcoming Fright Fest.
Area 51 in BBNP stunk, it was just terrible. It had the space ship and like 2 saw horses, seriously? I wish it would go back to Hometown but we all know that probably won't happen.
The actors, to me, are what make Fright Fest what it is. Without them, it's just Great America with Halloween decorations. Necropolis is going to suffer, and Mayor Slayer is the FACE of Fright Fest. No more clowns, either. This is sad, as my friends and I have gone to FF for years and have mancrushes on the mayor.
I understand the park trying to save money, but I think this is a poor avenue to choose. I don't know what the overall concensus is out there, but perhaps if enough of us call or write Great America asking to continue its relationship with JPM, maybe we can still get the actors back at Fright Fest. It just won't be the same without the mayor and his minions..
Save The Mayor!

^To me every park needs to move in house. It may be a few rough years ahead, but the more they learn, the better it gets. Once they get the hang of it, it will be a great event and cheaper for the park.
Just because Fright Fest is being done in-house, does not mean they won't have actors. They just won't be hired thru JPM. Personally I think it will be done better in-house. I have always wondered why it took so long for Six Flags to do it themselves.
