David, try to go easy on him
What's really funny, is that you think I'm from the GP (General Public). When indeed, I most likely know far more about the coaster, as I've rode it multiple times.
I've taken down my blog post on him. And, I have applied for this. I would hope to record it all so that i may upload it for those who may not get a chance. Topics I would discuss:
- Kentucky Kingdom Lawsuit - Great America's thrill lineup - Chang (Of course, it will be a tricky question)
If I do get in on this, I would be happy to ask him any questions you'll have.
Great America's thrill line up? What do you mean by that. A good question to ask him is if ANY SF park will install a Huss Giant Frisbee or S&S Screamin Swing...the 2 leaders in Mega Flats.
I seriously doubt that Shapiro is looking for feedback from Coaster Dorks. He wants the real meat and potatoes customers (You know people that actually spend money in the park) For their input.
And if you really think Shapiro is going to answer a question about the next 500 foot coaster being installed, then you really need to get your head examined.
(You know people that actually spend money in the park
I feel like if I spend money at the park it is like giving them back my paycheck yet I do it anyway. I think I personally should be on the call because I offer alot for My home park Gadv. I'm the poster child for Friendly, Clean, Fast and Safe Service.
I submitted a question and it was not even about coaster or a specific park. I also listed no sites or such, hoping to work the angle of regular GP and not an enthusiast.
I do not post often anymore, but David, you sir are a dumbass. Reading your signature proves my point, Mark Shapiro is alot better than you give him credit for. He is in touch with what guests want; he is an outsider (once upon general public), and has that eye for detail that Six Flags lost during the Premier Parks era. Coasters to not drive attendance, Safety, Courtesy, Efficiency, and show quality do. The company actually has a brand that is not horrible anymore, granted it can still use more work, but it has greatly improved. Sure let's go back to the days of building a new coaster and attendance going down, or we can stick with current plan of diversifying the park portfolio and continue to improve service. I think I will just ignore your posts when reading now on.
Holy Crap!! Common sense has been injected into this board. I demand you go back to lurking immediately or face a lifetime ban, how dare you do such a thing around here!
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
Thank you! A diverse park experience is the key to a successful park! you need a clean, safe, friendly park for everyone! However, all of you who say coaster riders spend so much less money are idiots. I think if you looked at it you'd realize it's less than two to one, and shows, kids events, rides, and theme stuff eat up a huge percentage of gams expenses. I bet in total thrill seekers still make up 40% of the parks profits. Shapiro knows the exact numbers, and he isn't killing thrill rides, just trying to be smarter with how sfi spends it's thrill budget. A huge thing in business is return on investment, how long it takes an investment to pay for it's cost and start turning a profit. Coasters have a huge draw and capacity, but they only really make money by drawing once a year riders (season ticket costs mainly cover maintenance and daily operation costs). A car of four coaster nuts will spend $220 per visit to get in the door (once per year) where a family of four will spend $260 Once for countless visits. Families only bring in money because they return often and buy stuff. Kids ask for stuff all the time, and when it's a family trip they usually give in.

Since you don't post often, should I assume you don't read often? I've been known to bash Shapiro very often. He's got a "Master Plan" ya' know! Six Flags has only become a pop-obsessed DC comics addicted waste. Sorry to say, but the only good show at GAm right now is Show Stoppin' for me.
Every post you make only proves batcave's points even more.
Mark Shapiro is not an idiot, and if you really think you can "put one over on him" with one of your ridiculous and asinine "questions" then I suggest instead of using the internet to look up Roller Coasters, you go over to webmd.com and get information on mental health. Shame on you to dumb down the forum, and make yourself seem like some kind of big shot when really, your doing nothing but proving your well...

Just because someone does something often does mean they are right.
Your a 14 coaster nerd with (I sincerely hope) no kids. Odds are your parents pay for everything or at least most of the cost associated with theme parks. Your concept of money, target audience, what a theme park should be for the general public and how to run a business shows your age. As you get older, maybe some those ideas will mature with you and you will begin to better understand theme parks. But right now you sound uniformed and just moronic.
You walk around like a big shot know it all when It comes to parks, and how parks should operate under your specific agenda. You have also publicly blasted people on this board when it came to straying away from your opinion as well. So with all that I will say this.
We are not personally attacking you, we are attacking your opinion on a subject. If I or other moderators here felt you where personally being attacked, they'd be dealt with just like anyone else.
The truth of the matter is you make yourself out to be an easy target especially when you boast about how YOU should handle things.
With that I say you brought alot of this on yourself.
Shapiro is very down to earth, I remember when he came with his family back when I worked at the park he waited in the lines like everyone else, he understands the business(because he treats himself like a guest)...he gets it more than you think.
No on the other hand when Jeff Zucker (President of NBC Universal) and his family visit the Universal Parks he treats himself as a god. They get full VIP tours and everything. I remember one case off hand when he was running late to a show, it was delayed 15mins so he could arrive...great guest service from the President of a Service company!
I realize Shapiro is very down to earth, but the truth of the matter is, I'm quite ignorant, as you may know! Shapiro really hasn't catered to anyone but the families. Look here:
2006 - Shapiro enters as SF CEO -American Eagle turns forward again. -NONthrill -Operation Spy girl -Family
2010 - Little Dipper - Kids - MagiQuest - Kids - Glow in the Park - Generic
As you can see, there is a obvious complete disregard to the thrill sector of our park. Whereas, Magic Mountain has received a new coaster or renovation for 3 straight years.
Since Shapiro took over, the only coaster installed at SFMM is Terminator. Tatsu was a done deal under the Burke regime. The next coaster is a rollerskater like Spacelys.
Also factor in that SFMM has fierce competition from Disney, Universal, and Knotts. SFGAm has no competition.
2011 sounds like SFGAm is going to get something big (as in thrill). Whether that is Chang or something else, we shall see.
Stop being so one track minded.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

The thrill sector is ages 12-19 in public schools. These are people that, once school is over, move onto other things. It's not often you see a bunch of 30 year old guys skipping NFL games to ride V2.
On American Eagle, at least with the Cedar Fair parks, they turned their racing coasters back around due to insurance.
david wrote:2007 - Wiggles World - Kids - Trailblazer Removed - Generic - SSA closed - Generic
The executive level of the business had nothing to do with Trailblazer and SSA. Trailblazer went due to safety and faulty design on Zamperla's part, and SSA was just old and past its time.
Your issue on lack of teen rides does not even warrant a response because you could never be so far off of what is smart business.
