2010 opening day April 17th?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby Chitown on September 10th, 2009, 3:30 pm
That is what this reporter is claiming in an article about SFGAm season pass special going on. If true , they are pushing back the opening by a couple weeks which is what I thought they would do.

I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Good for them business wise. Those first few weekends were beyond dead. Heck, opening weekend was walk-on everything including Superman.

Damn that sucks, I really enjoyed my 5 visits in the first 3 weeks. 4 of them were under 2 hours and I got on every coaster within that time.

OMG! APRIL 17th! That doesn't fit with my plans at all! How will I get my opening weekend visit?!

Yeah, I'm kidding. Some people freak out way too much over the opening date for the park being too early, too late, or something. This should work just fine.

First days at the park are usually lousy with wind, rain or chilly temps hovering around Gurnee. I would not expect to get to ride everything. April is harsh sometimes like February and March can be.

I know that 2008-2009 were total flops especially 09 when we opened April 4th. It took over a month for the weather to really cooperate and warm up. Crowds were dead and many rides (Bull, Superman, V2) were either closed (Not ready/windy) or were up and down.

If they got a good enough attraction (most likely a coaster) they could easily support another early April opening day. That is of course if it would be ready by opening day.

NO! NO! NO! I do not want an early opening for a new attraction. That always kills the deadness of the park! I love when the park is dead!

Dipper will not be open on opening day. I am sure of it. They don't have some deadline to live up to.

I dont see any reason why Little Dipper couldn't be ready for opening day. I agree it might not be, but there is no good reason why it shouldn't.

Agreed. Only thing that would possibly delay Dipper's opening is a harsh winter while constructing it.

well they have everything, the ride is small and opening is still over 3 months away...as long as this winter will not be punding snow every other week in Gurnee or have bone chilling temperatures too often we should be fine.

All i know is that i am FOR SURE going on opening day, do you think a flash pass will be worth riding all those rides again? How long will the lines be?

^Last year the longest wait I had was whatever time it took me to walk to the que. Never once did I wait a cycle for any ride.

Wasn't it raining a bit last April 4th? And pretty chilly? I don't think it reached 47 degrees in Gurnee.
