Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

WTF ARE YOU SAYING!

There are many factors that contribute to the removal of rides. You don't just pull out a ride because it has a shorter line. That's actually why you KEEP a ride. Shapiro is all about keeping the ride lines as short as possible. Sure the capacity isn't great, but the line moves quite well. If the trains are indeed replaced, then why would they remove the ride? It would be perfect.

If a line is short, people clearly don't like the ride, and there is no sense in keeping it. Also regardless of what Shapiro says, he wants lines as long as possible to encourage fast pass sales. If lines are short, they loose out on money. This is simple common sense here people, apparently it's no longer that common.

Now THAT is ridiculous. Kentucky Kingdom has more problems than I thought.

^It is a really odd set-up. What also sucks is the parking pass is not good their either and the parking price changes during the season. It was $6 when I went and I've seen the price anywhere from $4-$8 last season in trip reports.

However, they now have a new season pass that is only 30 bucks, but comes without the discounts or coupon book. Works in every park and has no blackout dates.

^Reminds me of how Knex modified the Screamin Serpent to cost less, then charged twice as much because it's an "educational version"

Look at this:

http://www.knex.com/educational_toys/am ... rience.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Compared to this:

http://www.dugnorth.com/blog/uploaded_i ... oaster.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

-one car instead of 3
-lots of supports taken out from the original design
-less track

Screamin' Serpent was $69.99
Educational kit is $250.00

That's about $200.00 extra for the teacher's guide.

While it is ridiculous how the state fair is set up, Six Flags only leases the land that SFKK sits on from the fairground and in the lease it says every year the fairgrounds take control of the park for the duration of the state fair. That was written up a long time before it was owned by Six Flags or even premier though. If you ever happen to get a SFKK Season Pass it will say on the back that the pass is not valid during the Kentucky State Fair and then it gives the dates. Supposedly if you go to Guest Relations if a non SFKK Season Pass they can arrange a free or discounted wristband, if you show up on a tickets only day, you're pretty SOL.

We were told no discount this year when I asked over the phone. I wanted to hit the park for an hour or 2, but no dice.

I really hope Chang will be our "gift" and we give some other place Iron Wolf. I absolutley LOVE floorless rides and I hope Chang would become one. Besides the Wilderness Theater do you think they would take out the picknic grove area too? Do you think "Chang" would get re-theamed?

I wouldnt fret about the Picnic Grove being removed. Group sales is a major part of revenue for parks and they host events in that area almost daily during the summer.

I was able to get very close and zoom in on the support and this is what I saw.
It seems like the local KY Iron workers signed the support before it left.
I am not sure of the doodle underneath is a sketch of the ride and the slash is where the support came from or just a little KY artwork.

Also, there are what looks like station supports (I think) in the first picture. I could not see it before because they are stacked low to the ground.

Now we just need confirmation it will rise in Gurnee in 2011.

So, there u go. Little Dipper is still untouched, probably till early spring, and Chang will need a new coat of fresh paint when it reopens. The chippy paint means no real painting is being done on Chang at the moment. Maybe just being converted to a floorless or sitdown.

My kinda ride. I think if we turned into a floorless with a good theme and some effects, this could be a homerun move by Shapiro.

The Chipped paint signifies that the ride will host a VERY fresh coat of paint. I'm talking scraping the old paint off, and repainting it all from scratch.

I was also at the park, (pics later), Was it just me or did S:UF look darker?
