Little Dipper location Chat

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Discuss the impending removal (possibly) of this area of the park!

All traces of the area are being removed from the park website which leads us to believe that the area will not be sticking around for much longer.

Hmm. They didn't add little dipper to the list, though.

This doesn't surprise me. The place was dead through out the year, even on crowded days. They also had 2 attractions closed the entire season. (LTL and the slide complex)

Dipper will most likely not be announced on the website until it has been put up, and all ready. They don't want to advertise something like what happened to DJV.

^ Buccaneer Battle and The Dark Knight Coaster had their pages up the day they were announced. And TDK's opening was a nightmare. Over a month late, and then when it finally opened, its opening day was chaos

Good, they need to close BBNP. 2 weeks before Fright Fest I spent an hour to 90 minutes in there photographing the entire area. In that time, there were 4 rides open (including the train) and not a single person walked in the area. It was just sad to see workers almost falling asleep due nothing to do.

It should be called impending BBNP removal...but it is shocking as Bigs Bunny is a popular character why that area failed for so long is a mystery...those darn Wiggles!

^^My biggest theory on it's failure are how it was set-up. I honestly had no clue there were small rides inside the area until I went into it as they are hidden. Hidden rides = less people ridding them and less traffic.

I think the reason why that area Died is that they didn't expand or Upgrade the after 98'. Pepe Le Pew's could have been removed years ago and recieved a couple of kids rides there (Maybe from Hometown Park?)

Didn't Bugs Bunny National Park have a bunch of old Marriot kiddy rides in it? I wonder what will happen to them?

It's because when you have most of the same stuff in other areas that are newer, people will go to the newer areas. When you put in multiple flying rides, what do you think is going to happen? This isn't Disney World, where they can get away with having 3 multiple of same type of ride, and still be packed. The park just doesn't have that many toddlers, and that's because there aren't any dark rides for many parents to say let's spend tons of money to come to this park because it's unique, and it's like Disney World.

A carnival has those flying rides, and spinning tea cups in the air, and so on. Kiddieland was also another cheaper alternative to Great America. I think the Beetle ride is the only ride worth saving out of that area as it's different. Now, are parents still going to spend boatloads of money going to Great America for the Little Dipper, and for the other two toddler areas? Again, thinking automatically the people that were going to Kiddieland for what -$22 an adult, and cheaper for kids are going to go to Great America is kind of out there in my opinion.

Before you jump to conclusions about the removal of BBNP, perhaps they are redrawing that area on the map to add the Little Dipper inside it. Maybe they just haven't finished updating the map or the info on their website. They just remodeled that whole area and added that ball house and the train only a few years ago- I doubt they are going to remove it.

Why would they have to REMOVE all the current rides on the website, just to add one? Doesn't make sense does it.

And cute Siggy. I hate it.

Because they may have to remodel the area, perhaps moving some rides to accomodate the Dipper... I wouldn't jump to conclusions and start rumors until you know for sure what's happening there. They may have to do more than just add the dipper in the map, perhaps the whole layout of the area may change.
It also doesn't make sense to remove that area entirely, when they just renovated it a few years ago, does it? Adding the Dipper in that area would definitely increase traffic in there, too.

My guess would be that they may be re-themeing the area to fit the little dipper, possibly making it a "Kiddieland" section.

Also, when I went through that section during fright fest (cell block A was there), The building that used to have the indoor playground was replaced by a sign that said "pardon our dust". Little dipper will more than likely go there.

If this is the case, they will probably keep the ball play area, the train, and the kiddie flat rides.

I don't know what renovations are being referred to, but BBNP hasn't changed at all since 1998 except for replacing some slides on Net Climb in 2005. Which doesn't matter, because Net Climb hasn't been used since 2006. Anyway, BBNP being completely removed from the website means something major is going on. If they were just moving the existing rides around, there'd be no need to remove them from the website.

Think about it though, they could just be changing the names of them.

The Little Dipper is not that small though. It may not be that huge, but it does take a good portion of land. I think the obvious choice would be that they put it going horizontal in that area. I'm just amazed at the dead space at our park (Space Shuttle, Splash Water Falls, Southwest Ampitheater is mostly dead now (except during Fright Fest, and 5 concerts or so), and Wilderness Theater), but yet they are taking something that was a full area.
