Official Questions/Ideas Topic

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby david on December 5th, 2009, 6:22 pm
I've noticed that people ask a lot of questions around the forum, And I think a good way to control the topics (and my own) is to create one large topic of Ideas/Questions that don't really need their own topic.

To assure the topic doesn't get cluttered, before answering a question quote the person's post, and answer the question.

I'd like to start us off:

Does anyone know how many people attended the "Thrill The World" thing?

I have a question, what's up with that really faded spot on Raging Bull. you can see it in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb8mDY5R ... re=related

Pay attention at about 1:39 - 1:42

That spot on Bull annoys me so much. I don't know what they did (or didn't do, could have just forgot it) but its almost white. And its not even that high off the ground, so they should be able to paint that spot themselves.

Wow, I don't think I've ever noticed that. It could have something to do with be riding in the back every time :D I also almost always ride at night.

Just a random thought, but could they have replaced a part of the track there?

That is very odd! Maybe primer for a faded area?

Any other questions?

Been that way since it was repainted. I think it's as simple as they missed a spot in an inconspicuous area and no body that matters cares/cared enough to fix it seeing as 99,999 out of every 100,000 probably wont notice, and that single person isn't likely to care.

It absolutely is there, it just blends in with the rest of the paint. Then when new paint was put all around that spot, but not on top of it, it tends to show pretty clearly.

original from the 1980 retheme. PGA had the same (though more Gray than brown) it deteriorated to the point where it had to all be torn out. I doubt SFGAm's is very far behind.

Thank you FParker185. As far as ideas, I have one that would make Great America look alot better & really wouldn't cost that much money to do. & that idea is turning Yanke Harbor back into a Yankee Harbor! All the other areas of the park (Especially Mardi Gras, SWT, & HH) are pretty well themed. Yankee Harbor seems to be the black sheep of the park, but this could be easily fixed by doing a few things. Here's my idea

- Get rid of all the Gotham city theming, and then Rename & Retheme Batman to Aqua Man. Then Paint the coaster different colors. (Blue Track, Green Supports)
- Move Whirligig somewhere else in the park, & reconstruct a much bigger & better Light house in its footprint
- Rename & Retheme V2, to The Yankee Serpent. & Have a fake sea monster animatronic coming out of the water right before you hit the spiral.
- Move The Batmobile over by the Dark Knight
- Rename all the resturaunts & Gift stores to a New England harbor theme
- Sell Sea food at the Resturaunts
- Sell Aqua Man Merchandise at the stores
- Leave East River Crawler & Yankee Clipper the way they are.

Thats my idea to fix the whole Yankee Harbor mess. & changing the name of Yanke Harbor to Gotham city is Un-Great American & would ruin tradition. :D

Retheme Batman?! Are you nuts? The only thing I can agree with on that Idea is the new paint job, but not your color choices. It just needs that refreshment like RB.

That is quite a long list! Especially now for Six Flags that is quite a dream! They never cared about theming areas properly why start now? As long as Chang/green lantern whatever are themed decently I'll be ok.

Well Six Flags is an AMUSEMENT PARK, not a THEME PARK, like Disney and Universal. I could really care less about theming as long as the park looks good and clean.

Considering you work for Six Flags Shapiro would be very upset with you for calling SFGAm an amusement park instead of a theme park when every time he talks he says his parks are theme parks not amusement parks. The past few things SFGAm are very much themed attractions: Buccaneer Battle, The Dark Knight Coaster, Hurricane Harbor, Mardi Gras, etc.

Just a hint, I don't currently work there. And I have not made plans as to going back for 2010 yet. :?

I wouldn't say they don't care about theming the areas properly. Mardi Gras, South West Territory & Huricane Harbor Are all 6 Flags additions, & They are themed wonderfully. Yankee Harbor is really the only area in the park where the theming is done half A$$ed, it could be done so much better with a few simple changes. If it means renaming & retheming Batman, V2 and all the shops and Resturaunts, then so be it. I want our park to be Number 1 and offer the best experience possible, & trust me 6 Flags Great America has that potential.

^But why retheme Batman? It was the original looping inverted coaster and does hold some historical value. Plus the ride has almost 20 years of history with it and it moves merchandise. If anything, they should retheme everything else in the area to a Batman theme.

But does the theme even matter at this point? The entire park has random ads everywhere and pop music playing (except for some ride areas.)
