I noticed someone above posted that Six Flags does have transportation from Chicago. What is it like? And where does it pick you up at? Thanks. I found another 2 year school near Loyola that I'm looking at and it would be about a midpoint between the city and Six Flags. Thanks Again
P.S. I never did hear anything back about my app. I understand its early just didn't know if I should expect anything?
The Chicago bus is basically a school bus that leaves 9 AM from Cumberland (CTA Blue Line) and takes you off to work. Leaves Six Flags at 6 PM....usually.
There is a charge taken from your paycheck though.

I'm shocked by this topic especially this above. People really work at the park from more than 30 miles away? Why? You are only getting paid minimum wage. I always assumed that everyone that works at the park is within 10 miles of the park in every direction (north, south, west, & east) except for the South Africans.

gas money alone would eat up and good chunk of a check at Six Flags...what is that place wher eu can stay if u want to work at the park and it is kind of like a motel for employees at Great America?

You mean Housing. I'm not sure, but I thinks it's somewhere near Berkley...or something like that. It's been a while since I heard of it.

The Six Flags employment site follow the link on the national page. It shows which jobs are available where. It will get competitive soon so start early.
Has anyone been interviewed/hired for the 2010 season yet? Or plan on returning for another season. I applied and am waiting to here details on the bus from the Rosemont L stop to the park.

If you are taking the CTA every morning, you'll need to leave QUITE early, and you'll be home QUITE late.

David, please, don't be a smart$%&
I have some information for you.
In short, The CTA wil Cost you some cash, but it's surely less than housing. Take the Blue Line to Cumberland. This is also where the Chicago bus drops you off. When you are hired they will ask you if you need transport, if not, TELL THEM! Your schedule will be coordinated according to the bus schedule. If you have any Questions Please PM Me.
Just a quick note, I'm not sure if they will allow you to use transportation to get to your training sessions, but it's worth asking them. I got a ride to the park for all my trainings.

Well I think I may have gotten a few roommates in the south eastern part of Logan Square near the northern Western blue line stop. (One block away) I was planning on taking a few classes on Monday and Wednesday at Harold-Washington downtown which would give me a U-PASS for the L. I didn't know though if Six Flags would still hire me if I wasn't available to start working until June 1st though. I could do training on the weekends in may but I am not actually coming into the city until after graduation.

They are hiring all throughout the season! Good Luck!

I applied online last weekend and got the call this week! I signed up for the ride ops department. I have an interview set up in early march. Does anyone know how these interview days work? There were only three days available, and I was told to report to "trailer 7". That makes me believe they are going to be handling a lot of people. Regardless, I'm going to take it as seriously as I can.
Do I get hired that day if they approve of me? Do I get my employee ID, etc then or is there a separate orientation? Will I be taking any tests?

Yes, it's a hiring event, it's a day where everyone that applied can get interviewed.

No, If you are offered the job after an interview, you will fill out some paperwork so that you can get your tax forms, ect. Once you go to your processing, then you're technically employed. There are two seperate orientations, Discovery, which is learning where everything in the park is, then department, which is Ride Ops specific in your case. And yes, you will be taking tests at those orientations.

But seriously, no. BUT there is a bus that leaves from Chicago that takes you to SFGAm.

Bus ride usually depends. It can be anywhere from a half-hour to 45 minutes. If you haven't received a call, I recommend attending a job fair. Take the initiative!
