A long but probably worth it trip would be Magic Mountain for sure...While your there, you can hit up all the Cali parks.
Have a take and don't suck, it's the Jim Rome Show!

There is always Orlando. We were able to hit SFKK, SFOG and Beech Bend Park on the drives down and back. All 3 parks were less then 30 minutes out of the way.

To me, vacations without amusement parks, waterparks, or any other types of rides would be really, really boring. I have been to Nigara Falls before, but I don't really remember it.

The closeset to this area that would be good in my opinion are SFStL, Cedar Point, and Kings Island. MO isn't by OH though, but still maybe you want to do a Missouri trip, and an Ohio trip.

^ With MO, it is doable to do The Dells, ValleyFair!, Nick Universe, Arnold's Park (Is a small side track), Adventureland, Silver Dollar City, Worlds of Fun and SF STL is basically a giant square. Plus Walt Disney's hometown is right by Kansas City if interested as well. The most driving would be the ValleyFair to Adventureland day as Arnold's Park is 2 hours each way off the path.

Take a road trip up to Winnipeg, MB and Thunder Bay, ON. They are very scenic areas and are a lot of fun. Not to mention, if your 18 Winnipeg is a blast :D I REALLY enjoyed my visit there this summer on the way back from our Seattle/Vancouver/Edmonton road trip.

I think we were one of the 4 or 5 coaster people to ever go up there, but trust me you will enjoy it.
