Fright Fest '09

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

On Saturday, during the day when I got there the pond looked perfectly fine and red, you could see there was red water being pumped in on the side closest to STT. Though I did notice some of those pictures it looking murky and black, I don't know if those were taken on Sunday or if it was lighting or what. Though that is quite strange.

maybe they put too much red dye in so it made it really really dark red and makes it look black

I havent been to the park in a whole year and I have to ask.... Does anyone know how LAFF is this year?

I am curious. I miss SFGAM sooo much. I havent been able to go because of my full time job & my crappy car.

I just saw the video for Terror Twister 2 and it looks pretty sick this year. Is the new track that is played available anywhere?

My opinion is they ruined a character, but I can't say which one and who because it would be a spoiler. However, to me it's always the same show with 2-3 (If it's 4, well than it's 4.) jokes differently, and the same songs. I wish they would change it up just a little more than that. Maybe, change one evil monster, and maybe even change one song. in my opinion, the witches costume doesn't even remind of a witch, and the devil in the blue dress is like the worst monster in the world.

I'm not saying that the actress is bad, because they aren't, but that monster? How about adding Freddy, Chucky, Jason, or a Vampire lady? For monster women, I usually don't think of women as monsters. They are usually nurses, schoolgirls, bunnies, princesses, fairies, and stuff like that. In the other show, they make them out to be zombies which isn't a bad idea.

Where in the heck did that brown character with the goofy wig of hair come from in LAFF?

^ for a lady vampire, there's Vampira.(which you explained to be the "devil in the blue dress")
As for your last question did you mean the wearwolf?

No, the one that looks like she has a mop on her head. Who is she from? She's at 22 seconds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8wbKJxE ... re=related

They had a mummy last year? I missed last year for that show. Is the Grim Reaper (dressed in all black) instead of the mummy?

Ok ilovethevu...how many times have you seen the show?

The "mop" headed character is Hag...she has been in the show for several years.

How would adding a character like Jason or Chucky add anything to the show? Stylistically it just doesn't work.

The "devil in the blue dress" is actually a vampire...hence the name Vampira...

and I think you have a very stereotypical view on Witches. Do they always have to be green and wear long black dresses with pointy hats? Open your mind!

in general, this show is a classic and adding random things just to change it would just ruin it...this show is all about tradition.

I don't know what happened to the mummy. But for the Grim Reaper, if you notice he's only there until "Frankie" comes into the show. This year, "Frankie" is the shortest character in the show this year. The grim reaper was the shortest in the show when he was out. They have been doing this forever. "Frankie is the Grim Reaper.

Can one of you explain what is the big deal about this show? I think that I speak for most of us who do not understand how and why it manages to spark such discussion every year?

In the same respect...how is it that individual roller coasters spark discussions every year? A coaster is just a big hunk of metal or wood that does the same thing year after year.

The answer is both of these things make somebody happy!

Different people have different interests. Some people go to fright fest for the rides, some people go for the "scare actors" and haunted housed, others go for the shows.

There are a lot of people out there who don't understand the appeal of shows in a theme park, but when the theater has been consistently packed for some 19 odd years , it seems to show that there are far more who do. And as far as amusement park shows go... SFGA just does it right!!!

^I think what he was trying to say is that the show isn't as great as it's made out to be. Then again, it's all you guys have.

To me, the show is something different. I can not tell you how much I hate shows where it is nothing more then college kids doing karaoke on a stage (I'm looking at you Shown Stoppin'.) This show at least has a story and makes no effort to take itself serious.

Compared to Disney, Universal, Busch parks, Dollywood and ect. it is nothing special. But compared to the Six Flags, Cedar Fairs and other parks it is great.

^ Thank you monsterfan!

It is a great show if you just take it for what it is, nobody here is saying it is a Broadway Production, nor is anybody saying it is a Disney Show....

So just let the people who like the show enjoy it. Not everybody is going to like it, and that is fine...but don't try to bring other people down.

You guys haven't even touched on Dead Man's Party. That show is awesome. Even out on the train platform in HT Square. Those guys can sing.

I noticed very few scare actors this time. I really only saw 3 people walking through the park, and they were scary clowns. Maybe it is because it was a sunday night (10/11) and it was kind of cold?

So if LAFF and Dead Mans are such a big topic why doesn't someone start a topic for just the ff shows so that this thread can be left open for other more general ff discussion it seems like the shows are all you guys talk about on here.
