Trailblazer

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I was looking up random stuff on good ol' wikipedia and read that Trailblazer and every other ride of the same model in the Six Flags chain was shut down in 2006 due to safety issues. I wasn't able to find anything further on that. I saw in the employee parking lot today the entire ride minus the bottom support is still there, which the bottom support is still in its origional location in the park. It said none have yet to re-open, but could they be hoping to some day? Mainly I'm curious what the safety issues were, I rode it back in the day and it seemed safe...

Take a look at the picture. The ride in the picture was a HUSS Rainbow. Trailblazer was a Zamperla Joker but they're basically the same thing. Basically, one faulty part caused the situation in that picture. If one bad part can cause that, its not a good design.

Wow, is that really the reason it closed? I love how everyone complained when Deja Vu was removed but not Trailblazer.

That accident was after trailblazer was removed.

It has a major issue with it. It's a terrible boring ride.

^Yep, that accident happened after Trailblazer was removed. It's a different manufacturer. It shouldn't matter. It's like them closing the Fabbri Mega Drops, or ARM Super Shot because the Intamin Generation Drop 2 had it's cable snap. They are built differently. They never closed the Fabbri, or ARM rides because they are built differently.

Huss Rainbows and zamperla Jokers operate on basically the same mechanical design... If I’m not mistaken Huss uses double roller chains and Zamperla uses drive shafts but they are both used for the same principal and they are both hidden making inspection impossible without full disassembly of the ride...
