Maybe the park has seen improvements...

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

A lot of people complain that the quality of the park has been sliding downhill lately, but one member of Coaster101.com has posted a remarkably positive trip report. They haven't visited the park in four years, and they said that "there's been a big improvement at the park over the last few years".

There you have it. Just wait though, in a few minutes, someone (And I bet I know who) will be complaining about BB and why there isn't another huge coaster yet. But who cares if the park's cleaner than it's been in years, who cares if the employees take the time to say 'Hello' and 'Have a Great Day,' and who cares if many of the park's orgiginal flats have been spared. I don't know about the rest of you, but I go to an Amusement Park to enjoy what it has to offer, not criticize every minor detail in sight. :?

agreed, I'm content with 12 (13 if Eagle is R/B is two) coasters and I bet other six flags would LOVE to be SFGrAm.

Actually, it is 13. (14 if Eagle was seperated)

It really depends on who you are. Six Flags Great America was clean in my opinion before they made this initiative it's the cleanest park in the world. Let me change that statement into saying that Six Flags Great America was clean and is clean if you are counting picking up garbage all over the place. If you are talking about kept up paint, and replacing wood, and other stuff, it's not the cleanest park in the world, and in my opinion it hasn't been. In that Coaster101 thing, look at what Ronald says with the first words Eyes Open. Hey, every since they been saying cleanest park in the world, you look more at, and see is it really clean?

Back in the 2001 era, you might say that it looked more of dumpy. You went to Orleans Place at the time, and seen a ride that was there (Power Dive) with supports coming out of the ground still (ride was gone, but supports still there), and you see Cajun Cliffhanger just sitting there rusting away. Now, we don't have that. Well, yes we do. It's more a hidden thing because you could potentially miss it if not looking on the Demon, or not going on the Antique cars. We also have Space Shuttle America, but it's the dead corner of the park anyway I guess so people aren't passing to go from Orleans Place into Yankee Harbor like they were before.

To an enthusiast that probably doesn't play many games, and probably packs light with no extra belongings, they might think nothing of the locker policy. They also probably don't go in the waterpark so they don't notice any negatives at all.

This guy who is posting the trip report has said that Raging Bull had a faster line than last time (This person's last time was FOUR years ago. How the heck do they remember that?). I think a reason for feeling like it's a shorter line is because of tv's. Time goes faster for me when I'm in a line with tv's than not even though it's the same amount of time as before. However, this year isn't as good as last year in my opinion with the content (mostly I'm talking about the music videos).

I agree the early 2000's the park was in bad shape and the clientele was really bad, its much improved now. Although the huge amount of ads/soundtrack/butchering of of ambiance with SFTV upsells in queue lines is kindve disheartening.

^ At least is not as bad as SF Over Gerogia. They have put ads all over the Mind Bender ride.

You're right that Six Flags still has tons of defunct rides all over the place but they have become more subtle about it. However, I really think that they just have to get rid of Space Shuttle America. They should have done this right when the ride closed. Especially now that the shuttle has an advertisement on it, I think it looks like an abandoned building with billboards plastered over it.

I had, but no real shock with it being on a train. The train moves slow and past people all over the park (their train is the same way.) However, with a coaster it makes zero seance. Why pay to put ads on the side of a coaster car when the only time people can read them is either the station or the brakes before the station? It just screams "we are broke, pay us and we will put an ad anywhere for anything."

I will say the ads have there place in the ads dont. Some placement is a good thing and it helps with the costs overruns and such. But there are also places where it isnt necessary. Case in point, the train bridge at HTS. WTF is that giant ass LCD screen doing there? Is that not the most god-awful thing you have ever seen?

As for SSA, as well as the go--carts. That whole area should be cleaned up and removed. Where SSA and the theater for it are now, you put a new cafe (think Firehouse) in for Hurricane Harbor and you make a new entrance for HH where the GC entrance is now, instead of going all the way around and thru the park just to get to HH.

As for improvements, its the same old same old. Its nice to hear some of the employees saying hello and good bye but some just have the same old KMA attitude and nothing will ever change that.

Did you ever look at the Carousel roof? It looks terrible. When you aren't looking up there, the Carousel looks nicely painted, and it looks good, but I think those lights should be replaced at night. I think a lit up carousel like Disney has their Castle is a great idea.

I liked when we had advertisements on V2 before. That made a lot of sense. It was like we had our Dragster with A&E Driving Force. That made sense. Someone from Over Texas said they have hair gel on Flashback (boomerang), and I seen it on Viper at Magic Mountain (not in person), and it looks terrible in my opinion. It has nothing to do with what either of those rides are about. The Hello's, and acting friendly are just acts, but the park should have an attitude toward serving the customer.

It's like on Demon at the end of the night, and there are no Flash Pass people coming up, they have the last couple rows of seats blocked off even though no one is in them. Why run empty seats if you have people waiting in line? My opinion has always been that no one should have to wait in line IF they don't have to. If you have enough seats not full, people should be able to get into them. It's like in the Lazy River where you get in the line, and there are enough tubes but because they organized the entrance in such a pathetic manner, you can't get on the ride for like 10 minutes.

It should be a 0 wait, but we are waiting forever because they put the entrance, and the exit in the same area. It's like in the 6 side complex, and especially the 4 tube slides, there isn't much of a wait for the non-bowl slides, but yet they didn't think hey let's make these stairs big enough so people could pass by on the left side when the bowl slides are too long. They have 4 slides in the back of the park, but do they send the people all at one time. Nope. Of course, you have to wait for the lifeguard, and they have 2 for 4 slides.

The waterpark I have the most complaints for as you can tell. These higher ups don't ride the rides, and don't understand the troubles.

FYI to people here.

Mindbender is a Schwarzkopf
The ads are hair gel ads...
Made by Schwarzkopf.

So pretty much, Schwarzkopf paid SFOG to put ads where they built their coaster....

I know sounds "stupid" according to you. I think its pretty sweet.

^This Schwarzkopf company I believe has nothing to do with the roller coaster company. It's on a ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain which wasn't made by Schwarzkopf, Viper (made by Arrow). That ride has had advertisements on that ride (Mindbender) before like A&E Driving Force when we had it on V2.

It's also kind of funny that I just realized that there is a company called Arrow too that makes t-shirts. http://www.pvh.com/arrow.aspx They don't advertise in the park, but that's kind of cool to me.
