Taking a camera in the que line

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Hey all. I had a question maybe someone here would know the answer to.

I am getting an DSLR camera in the next few weeks and want to use it at Great America. My goal is to basically get as many photos as I can from as many angles as possible. My hope is to bring the camera through the que line of all the rides.

My question is this: Can I bring it through the line with me if I don't plan on ridding. I know the new policy is no items in the line, but I will have zero plans to take the camera on the ride. My fiancee will ride and I will just exit and wait for her (or other way the round.)

I am just not sure on that policy. I know nothing goes on rides (wouldn't do that anyways for fear of loosing stuff.) Just looking to see if anyone knows.

Thanks

Should be okay.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Hey yeah Monsterfan don't wanna burst your bubble, but they are trying to be really hardcore about no items inline. The only way you could possibly get it into line is if you brought someone who is smaller than the height restriction that wouldn't be riding because they cant ride anyway. Then when you get to the station you would just have to give it to the child and have them hold it while you ride. They will not let people get into the line with bags or something that cannot be secured into a pocket. If some how you buy the worlds smallest SLR and it fits in your pocket then more power to you but, they won't let you in the line because you would have the option of riding and that could cause a problem.

Hope that helps I have an SLR and take lots of photos too but, I haven't had any problems taking photos since this policy has been initiated. There are really no good SLR worthy shots in ride lines anyway. In all honesty most of your interesting photos are all outside the rides. If you have a certain shot you really want to get tell me I can probably tell you how to get it from another angle. I seriously cant think of a photo that I would really want to get from a ride line that I couldn't get from somewhere else. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's my own opinion. The only one that I could even thing would be DEMON cause you can't get on that side of the ride without being inline. Superman the exit is right there, Dark Knight...lol, Batman doesn't matter cause the exit path is right there, V2 is out in the open so its easy no matter what, Iron Wolf is simple its exposed, Eagle is hard no matter what but you could get some shots from the exit or outside the park, Demon already stated, Raging Bull the exit is right there and its like the most photogenic coaster at the park so that's easy, and then Viper is easy too...just go to the exit or in Hurricane Harbor.

Anyway sorry for the long post but I have a lot of experience taking photos at the park.

Instead of making people mad about the locker policy, they should just put in retractable seatbelts, and having more bins, plus having them closer to the train (like on Demon - they are too far away from the train - Hey, how about moving the fence in? Ding, ding - Wait, that costs too much money without getting money like the locker policy.). I've seen an Arrow Suspended dispatched in around a minute with BINS, with slower workers (They weren't that fast moving.), and with retractable seatbelts.

For the camera thing, I think it would be quite annoying everytime you go in a line, and you have to beg the employee at the beginning to let you in the line. The line is a good time to take pictures because you have to wait anyway, but that's with a smaller camera you can put in your pocket (the pocket has velcrow, or zipped).

I'd say hide the camera best you can or sneak it past the gestapo at the front of the line. People manage to do it all the time, then when they get to the station they are made to leave the line and put it in a locker, which for you if you don't plan on riding doesn't really present an issue.

Yeah sneaking it is the best bet.

I do it all the time with water bottles and cameras then I just put it in my pockets when I ride.

Just tell the greeter your a non-rider. You'll be fine.
(hint, hint: Camera's are NOT included in the loose article program IF they can fit in a pocket!)
^I put that there just in case no one else knew...
