monsterfan99 wrote:Problem with putting the ride there is where do you expand HH to? I'm not sure how many people would to be in their bathing suits and cranking a cannon on dry land.
I don't see why people in bathing suits wouldn't crank a cannon on dry land. I don't get what you mean by where do you expand Hurricane Harbor to. If you go in Hurricane Harbor area, and you can see a door on the right (that's mostly not open), and you will see the Go-Karts through that door (if it is open). It's very close to the waterpark even though it's in the beginning part of the waterpark.
It's very easy to expand the waterpark. You take out the Go-Karts, you move the entrance to Sky Trek Tower yet again (to main walkway), and you get rid of Space Shuttle America. That's a lot of room. It's not gigantic, but it's big enough for more attractions. You always can expand to the parking lot, but how much into the parking lot have they expanded. The parking lot is running out of room. On a day that parking lot was completely crowded, I expected 3 hour lines, but I didn't get that. The waterpark, Viper, and Space Shuttle America have taking up so much parking space that even when the parking lot is really full, I haven't experienced a 3 hour line yet.
Problem is, if you put in Buccaneer Battler where the go carts are, you are left with only the Space Shuttle America area. Once you put in an entrance, you are left with the room for maybe a slide or so.
With the parking lot, I agree there should not expand into the parking lot. I've seen the lot packed on just Fright fest, I can only imagine it on a Saturday in July.
Rumors of a new slide have been around for too long...

Buccaneer Battle gets My Approval. Rode it 2x Today. It Needs more Targets Though.
Also, Why do We have to get rid of our water rides cause we have Hurricane Harbor? Anyone remember Blood River a Couple Years ago? Do you think Hurricane Harbor would be open in October if it was Built Then?
Now if you say "Get Rid of Ragin Cajun cause we have Dark Knight." Then I say OK.
^Blood River is closed because it's a waste of money operating due to not many people going on it in freezing temperatures. Hurricane Harbor would never be open in October.
I'm really shocked I haven't seen many posts about people going on the ride. I was expecting like 20 reviews by now. How packed was it yesterday?

While this ride has no appeal to me, I do hope it is very popular so other lines for rides are shorter. Sadly many days of the operating season the ride wont be operating and will do nothing to spread the crowds around.
As for HH, it is big enough and doesnt need to take up anymore room that could be used for other attractions that would be open year-round and not just seasonal.

Dead completely.... I should know, I was greeter at 5.

Exactly! We need YEAR-ROUND rides in the future...which is why a HH addition is pointless as it is only open in the summer months. AND if you asked most people they would not say we could use another slide or water ride of some sort. They would say we should get a __________.
I wonder if people complained this much about a new ride when Splashwater Falls or Roaring Rapids was installled?
I think it looks like a great ride. It sure looks much better than the vacant lot it was last year. A new family ride is better than no new ride at all.
onyxhotel08 wrote:Exactly! We need YEAR-ROUND rides in the future....
If you want year round rides they would have to completely enclose the park so it can run in the winter months. Maybe global warming will continue and the Chicago area will be like Miami weather.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
i want to make a trip sometime this memorial day weekend. Probably sunday or monday. Anyone know how attendance has looked over the years for memorial day weekend?
Going too but it varies depending on how many people stay home, do BBQ's, visit friends and family or want to head to there nearby Six Flags for a little fun in the sun. The weather looks great all this week. I expect it to be fairly busy even just because HH reopens this weekend. You are not seriously comparing SWF and RR to BB are you? Don't be ridiculous...^^^
I think what onxyhotel08 meant (im sure he/she will clarify) was that the new rides should be able to be open everyday of the operating season, and not attractions that wont be open early/late in the year due to weather conditions.
As for a year-round park, I think working towards that would be a great idea. With TDK towards the front of the park, and the empty SSA needing to be replaced, i think it would be smart for the park to have indoor rides in the front of the park in the future and maybe you could keep the park open later(or even year-round on weekends) as people could visit the park and ride the indoor attractions. People in the mid-west are used to cold weather, so walking short distances to go on rides/shows etc wouldnt be that difficult. You have the cyber cafe/you could enclose the bumper car ride and with a few additions over time you could have part of the front park open year-round and charge people a daily fee to visit during this off-year period or per ride basis.
^That's not actually the worst idea i've heard. They would probably want a few more inddor attractions before they do that though. And does TDK have heating or just air conditioning?

It honestly depends. If the weathers nice there will be some crowds.
I can't wait to get on Buccaneer Battle the next time I go. Judging by the reviews and pics, it looks great!

People might not care, but I do. There are the same Deja Vu colors in the Buccaneer Battle sign!!!! This was the sign post that was Deja Vu before. They had to do that on purpose. They have some kind of flag that's the same color green that Deja Vu was and the outlining of Buccaneer Battle is the shocking blue that was Deja Vu. That is so cool.
Deja Vu LIVES on!!!

I rode Buccaneer Battle for the first time today. Overall it's a great ride! I had a boat all to myself and can imagine how much more competition there will be once the boats are full. Needless to say I got soaked. The theming was pretty good, except I was on the side of the boat facing the midway so most of it was on the other side of the boat. Even though no one was on the ride, there were still lots of people firing at me from the midway. My only real complaint would be that the targets didn't really seem to do anything. If it's hot in the summer, I would definitely ride it again!

The haystack dryer at both locations are now $3 per cycle as of today June Ist, 2009 Also, more seating in the area of BB facing the ride and turnstile at ride exit is now at station-house exit door. No wait at BB but long line at Roaring Rapids all the way to queue entrance. A large sign with Comcast ticket holders only was near the ride entrance but not sure about that? The weather was hot and humid & it reach 80. Loggers & YC are closed.
Yea...I rode it the 2nd day it was open and some how the first rider of the day by walking there. I rode it 15 times in a row without moving or even anyone getting inside my cart, but then I rode it 1 more time later...if it does get crowded, it has the highest capacity in the park and they atlest have roofs over the queue area and tvs. So its good and set.
