CEO at SFGAm Tuesday.

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I find it funny that a man that is about 6ft 4in. would wear a full blown suit to a park. I know he is CEO but comeon. You can dress down a little bit Mark. :)

If he wants the attention, I am sure he got it.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

4 more years of Shapiro? Hmm...

And Great America is REALLY the most profitable of every park in the chain? That's ...interesting.

Thanks for the link. It aggravates me to no end how some of the general public perceives the park. Some of the comments are classic.

"Close the place. Too expensive for a family day, filthy and unsafe."

"Dirty. Expensive. Gangs."

At least some people get it:

"Even though the prices may be high its a better deal then carnivals now days"

A lot of those comments are crazy! I do not think it is expensive at all, for a full theme park, free concerts and a water park? Also, if they want the park to be as clean as a "city park", not gonna happen! When you have 20+ Thousand people come that day, you try keeping up with it. Unless we want them to hire triple the staff, then price will go even higher!

If people want Six Flags to be cheaper, then they should go to the county fair!

I also dont agree with this statement, but in a good way. SFMM is a nice getaway for me once every few weeks. As much as I love Disney Parks its nice to go to a park and not get run over by strollers or stand next to screaming kids in line all day.

Its nice that we are the most profitable park in the chain, yet while SFMM gets a top-notch attraction in the new Terminator coaster, we get a water ride.

If the park is that profitable then we should get more TLC from park management than we do. We could have easily gotten the new coaster, and had SFMM get the water ride we got.

And to compare a SF experience with a disney experience is a big joke!!! I guess with this way of thinking the pirate water ride is comparable to Pirates of the Carb?????

Weird, I always have at least 2-3 screaming kids near me at every show.

Profitable means expenses - money from people coming to the park. Well, it's kind of obvious it wouldn't be Magic Mountain as most profitable because they are getting so many coasters. They got Tatsu, Terminator, and they are going to get another coaster. They have more coasters which means more maintenance, and more mechanics.

They also don't have a waterpark that's free which means they can't get locker money from people, and tube rentals. I imagine that he is counting Great America & Hurricane Harbor together for us while over at SFMM, he's only counting the one park. For Great Adventure, they again have to pay for their waterpark as it's not free, so no locker money, or tube rentals. They have gotten more roller coasters recently like El Toro, a retheme of Bizzaro this year, the Dark Knight, and Kingda Ka in 2005.

These other parks are getting more things than we are. SFGAm is still getting things, but not as much as these other two, so it makes sense why SFGAm is the most profitable for these top 3 parks in the chain.

I think it also has to do with the school groups. The park has tons of them, and they aren't using season passes probably to get in. That's a lot of people you can guarnatee to come in a day. Oh, another thing is that Magic Mountain is open all year, and they might have some slow times when they really don't need to be open so they could be losing money on those days.

Umm, what? LOL

I think it also has to do with the school groups.

Almost all parks get good numbers of school groups. Just a few weeks ago, I saw more school buses at KI than I have at any other park - ever (and yet Diamondback only had a 40+ min wait! :))

I do not think it is expensive at all

I dunno - can you get a full meal, including a drink, for under $10 at the park? I honestly don't know - I don't buy food in the park. Most chain parks are rather expensive, with most smaller parks being cheaper, but that's been the status quo for awhile now. You know what to expect when you walk in most chain parks, and that's why so many take a lunch or leave to eat lunch. :)

^Well, Kings Island is doing better than us in attendance. I don't think every park excels at school buses, but I don't go to every park either.

Umm, so you are saying the chain should sell 2 of the most profitable parks to survive?

Apparantly, La Ronde and SF Mexico are'nt the Chain's Most Profitable Parks. It's SFGAm, Who Could've Thought That ? (Me)

Who cares?

And with the school groups, have you ever been to another theme park around this time of year?
Cedar Point, KI, even the Dells has PLENTY of school groups.
Hell, even Disney brings in more school groups in one day than SFGAm, go there during Magic Music Days.

Six Flags Mexico does get a high attendance enough, but it's not compared to SFGAm, SFOT, SFOG, SFGAdv, and SFMM. The thing with Mexico is that they are charging really cheap admission without even using a coupon, or buying online. A higher attendance doesn't always mean they are raking in the money.

He's Right, Attendance doesn't Mean Anything, It's Profit and Revenue that Means More. In 2006 Cedar Fair Posted Revenue Per Property:

- Cedar Point Resort (210M)
- Knott's Berry Farm (186M)
- Dorney Park (56M)
- Valleyfair (36M)
- Worlds of Fun (35M)
- Geauga Lake (26M)
- Michigan's Adventure (19M)

- Kings Island (108M)
- Canada's Wonderland (93M)
- Kings Dominion (81M)
- Great America (63M)
- Carowind's (60M)
