New Policies for the 2009?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

new-policies-and-information-for-2008-season-t8760.html

To my great annoyance, last year there were quite a few changes to the park. So far I haven't heard anything this year, but if anyone knows anything about price hikes or lockers or anything, I want to know.

I believe ride lockers will be added to Demon, Viper, and one other coaster this year.

Here's what has been announced for 2009 so far:
County Fair Johnny Rockets Shake and Fry
Johnny Rockets is shaking things up with Johnny Rockets Shake and Fry, serving Johnny Rockets’ fries and shakes at this express version of the hamburger diner. This will replace Demon Nachos in a new building.

Cyber Café
Can’t wait to update your Facebook or MySpace page until the end of your adventure? Then step into our state-of-the-art Cyber Café to surf the web, and grab a steaming hot cup of coffee or a freshly-made doughnut while you’re there. This will replace Bourbon Street Cafe in Orleans Place and use the existing building

MPORIUM
Everyone’s favorite candy makes their debut at Six Flags Great America at the MPORIUM featuring the best of M&M's® and MARS. This will go where Tweety & Friends was in County Fair.

Six Flags Great America Supports the Green Initiative
This year Guests will see changes to help keep our park and planet clean. Recycling cans have been placed throughout the park for easy access and use. Six Flags Great America will be actively recycling plastic, paper, cardboard and aluminum in order to help keep the planet we all share green!

Also, as mentioned in other topics, lockers are being added to Viper, Demon, and V2. Flash Pass is also being expanded to include Viper and Demon. Looking at Buccaneer Battle photos, both the woodshop and the 3-Point Shoot-out have been removed, although I would expect to see the 3-Point Shoot-out be moved to a new location.

I see add all the coasters to Flash Pass but not Iron Wolf and Ragun Cajun? Not that I mind as I would be going to either one probably this season but still...where is Yankee Clipper? Do us all a favor and don't move 3 Point Challenge anywhere just forget it even existed. Cool that Viper will get a Flash Pass line...finally

^ Like it or not, the 3-Point Shoot-outs bring in money like crazy, so expect to see it return somewhere in 2009.

Iron Wolf already has Flash Pass, it just doesn't get used all the time.

Even this doesn't have to do with new policies (I don't think I should make another topic just for this), this had something to do with Great America recently. On Fox Chicago news yesterday (March 24), a person was at Six Flags saying they have 1400 jobs to fill. He operated the Big Easy Balloons (with someone else), with Sylvester, and Daffy.

It's just strange that they didn't interview near the new ride instead of Mardi Gras. It was at the very end of the news which I've seen (at 8:54 am even though the video shows 7:54 - They must have shown separate interviews).

They need new footage badly. Lots of old footage in there. Clip of the old tollway sign, a clip of Deja Vu going through the boomerang, a clip of Splashwater Falls splashing down, and an aerial clip from either 1999 or 2000 with Sky Whirl

Also, the park opens in 9 days and I haven't seen a single commercial. Seems to me if they're opening 3 weeks earlier than they've ever opened, they should probably be advertising that fact

Last year, they said they were going to do less advertising. I think they don't advertise much now compared to the summer because they figure there will be more people during that time. Watch they are probably putting up posters around the universities for Spring Break time.

What I truly believe is that they should put up billboard ads going to the city of Chicago. Why? Think of the amount of tourism the city of Chicago gets. Another idea would be in the airport, or in Navy Pier. For the hotels, I often think to have the brochures all year round even though the park isn't open every month. Why, because maybe there are people that come to Chicago in December, and don't realize that there is a Six Flags park in Gurnee because it's the off-season time.

That surprise me as well. Only thing I have seen is the Key-Lime Cove commercials that say they are Six Flags partner. Heck, even the giant sign welcoming everyone to the six flags parking lot still has the "now hiring" sign draped over both sides.

Something new, and something I'm not looking forward to is Triple Play having new lights on top of it like Orbit's, or Hometown Fun Machine. They have the red, green, and yellow long lights, and than white is on the bottom of each arm. From what I've seen, they weren't blinking on and off. They were just on. They haven't put lights on bottom of the arms yet (The same light bulbs are there right now, but I imagine those will be gone too.)

This is yet another money saving tip brought to you by Six Flags. What next, the Whirligig and Condor? I like Hometown Fun Machine's look (I never liked it before), and The Orbit also looks pretty good, but this didn't look that good. If they want to change something how about the Big Easy Balloons? Who ever thought of white bulbs on purple, yellow balloons? It just looks stupid.

It sort of reminds of the hideous Shake, Rattle, and Roll I encountered last year at Kings Island (especially at night):

Is it just me or did they add more theming to "The Dark Knight?" Also the Bloopers are better than I thought.

A Personal Thank You to Mark Shapiro for adding recent songs to Great American Idol.

The new lights are more energy effeciant and for the most part look better, it wouldnt surprise me if at some point they are swapped out on BEB.

Right now LED lighting costs a lot more to buy and install than it will ever save in energy costs. It's not a really a money saving thing, though in the long run it helps with maintenance. I remember riding Triple Play at night and when the lights would change colors you would hear the relays click inside the ride. Relays that see that much work generally don't last long.

^I enjoy the clicking! The Polyp does that too. The thing is this. For Triple Play, the light bulbs on that ride may last long enough until they have to buy them, but they are kind of forced to buy new bulbs even if they can last much longer because of the way they deteriorate over time. The LED isn't going to deteriorate as much.

Saving money could come about due to the mechanics putting in the light bulbs. How long does it take to put in light bulbs? Maybe, it does take 2 hours to put in all of them, and how much are mechanics getting? Are they getting $15 a hour, and than that's $30. You have to add the cost of deteriorating light bulbs (The color doesn't look so green anymore.), the time the mechanics put the light bulbs in the ride, someone said relays don't last that long (that's money), and how long LED's are going to last. They might last 10 years from now, while the other bulbs might last 2 or 3 years.

The light bulbs on carnival rides (like Big Easy Balloons, Condor) seem to be a better idea as they won't deteriorate as much I would think as these light bulbs do.

Here some LED are selling for $70 even though this for a car:

All day lockers at Front Entrance Restrooms is $11 medium , $14 Large, and $17 XL /Family
This is same as SFMM .
Other locations at $11 medium size are in Hometown Square across from Orbit, Behind Frenchy's store in New Orleans, and Next to Batman: the ride in Yankee Harbor.
All these location are front of the Restrooms.
$2 increase form last year but at par with HH water-park lockers.
Last year at SFGAdv was at $10 so I was expecting a dollar increase instead of TWO :!:

Season Pass Parking lane establish the year at the Washington Rd Entrance.
The signs say use middle lanes or just stay in the left lane when you get up the parking booth.
