If anybody does go this weekend or this week for that matter they will freeze thier asses off if they are taking pics. When I went a few weeks ago it was a good 20-30 degrees warmer and I was freezing standing out there taking pictures.

Why dont you? According to your info, you live in Villa Park. Its not that far away from Gurnee.
Well first of all I am 15. There is no way in hell my parents would drive a hour for me to take pictures of a coaster being built. They don't care about Great America at all and think I am crazy becuase i went 5 times last summer!

Crap dude, you live in Oak Lawn (I don't live too far from there) and you went 32 times this year. I bet I would too if I could drive.

I wish I could have lost track last year too like I did during the 2001 season. Im sure I went more than 40 times that season, last season I would have got there more if I didn't have summer school and didn't go to other parks.

See my parents don't really care how many times I go. They actually enjoy coasters themselves and drive me there because I'm only 15. That is how I managed to talk them into the 8 hour drive to Gurnee just to go to an amusement park.

When I went there for my update back on 1/1 my parents drove me there. Then later after I took my pictures we went to Gurnee mill mall for lunch. Maybe Coasterguy you should think about that idea and see what your parents will think.
Hey it could happen....

I think anyone would do that if they lived near any park. I however, the closet park to me is almost an hour away.

Yeah it works really well when everyone in your family is crazy about coasters too. Then you tend to find yourself on coaster trips and staying at hotels just for amusement parks. Or, you may even find yourself at the park on school nights until 11. Its pretty cool, but usually I take a friend with me, but for the most part my family packs food so I don't really have to worry about the money aspect because I also got a season pass myself.

Well, we have no good updates, I heard someone who went there this weekend there was nothing visible that was done on SUF. Hopefully this upcoming weekend we'll see some real good progress.

I think its going to have to warm up before we start seeing progress again, I can't imagine them wanting to be up in a crane moving around and bolting together steel supports in these temperatures.

Oh yeah! Brrrrr! That would be freezing. Just the other week it was 30 below with the wind chill up here! It was soooo cold, so it would suck to have to work in cold weather!

But guys, this is what they are paid to do. They know doing outside construction during the winter brings the possibility of harsh conditions. If you bundle up properly, it really shouldnt be a problem. They can take frequent breaks and have a warming tent near the construction (if that is what they are doing)However, none of this matters now because temperatures are supposed to be in the 30's and possibly hitting 40 for the next 7 days.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I'm sure they can do the work, they are paid for it. They know what winter gets like, and I'm sure that they have built other coasters out in the cold. Bundle up and build the coaster!
