I think they should start stripping the rides out and give us The Boomerang. Check out these pic's http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/vi ... hp?t=18622

Ya if any of that is even USABLE! well the COASTER looks like it missed the water, im sure the Electrical/Engine Housing was destroyed! There batman was mostly above water, but the ride engine, computer and Lift Engine where submerged and severly damaged, so that would involve the makers of the Boomerang to find the blueprints for that EXACT one, and get the stuff for it. If the lift engine was damaged they have to get one that will work exactly for that specific model

Sad to see Mega Zeph just sitting there doing nothing. Will be a sad day when the park is razed.

There are no blueprints specifically for SFNO's boomerang. Vekoma sells Boomerangs as a kit, it's designed for flat land only and they are not specific to any one of the now 50+ boomerangs. Each one comes with basically a photocopy of the blueprints for Boomerang #1. Also all use identical parts and pieces. Also the lifts are not electric, they are hydraulic and are not affected by exterior water. Most of that stuff though is contained inside a modified international shipping crate which also contains all the electrical knick nacks, basically the same as Deja Vu had. Outside of most of it's electrical stuff I'm sure the ride is salvageable.

Pretty much every ride there sustained damage, mostly electrical.

The Bat-clone was damaged, however it was repaired and moved and now operates at SFFT.

The S&S towers are currently being rebuilt at Great Escape.

I think a few other odds and ends have been taken out of SFNO and operate at other properties.

Only ride that I ever heard was damaged beyond repair was MegaZeph, something about the waterlogged land under the ride settling and distorting the structure to the point where it's not worth moving. Though I'm sure some if not all those flats while physically repairable, it wouldn't be worth it financially. It'd probably cost more to fix something like the Mondial Shake than it would go to buy a whole new one.

And all this is besides the fact that SFGAm has absolutely no use for a Vekoma Boomerang.

I agree with FParker, If Great America were to get any of their rides: I'll take Spillway Splashout (Shoot the Chutes) or Big Easy (Chance Giant Wheel?)

Vekoma Boomerangs BLOW. It would get a very negative reaction as a new ride at SFGAm, especially after an awesome ride like DejaVu was there. Id much rather have a Splash Battle, actually id rather have anything (maybe excluding a select few flat rides and Zamperla Volare) than a Boomerang.

Hey now, Zamperla Volare isn't that bad, in fact imagine all the jobs it would create in the medical field in and around Gurnee. Especially Chiropractors and Neurologists. The Walgreens at Grand and Milwaukee would see a huge sales boom, they'd have to expand the store just to be able to stock the necessary pain killers.

In closing, Volare would be a huge economic boom for the village of Gurnee :)

No no no...we cannot let Walgreens get a whiff of all this Volare talk. Walgreens has already razed enough land and giant needles poking through old cars. I'm sure if Walgreens knew of the power of a Zamperla Volare, they'd sponsor one at every SF park.

As far as the land is concerned, I am surprised they have not removed everything by now and either sold it or whatever the case may be with the insurance companies refusing to help pay off all the money. This year marks the 4 year anniversary. 4 years since the park closed down. This is ridiculous. And yes I think as long as it is mechanically operable even their boomerang could use a new home. Anywhere. Even in a Six Flags park.

No one wants the land for the price. Then again, this was Six Flags fault for signing the beyond long lease on the land. Now they are paying the price on it.

With the boomerang, is there really a demand for one anywhere? They would have to pay for new electronics all around and then pay to move it. They Could probably get a used one from another parking selling one for cheaper.

If I'm not mistake, there was around a 75 year lease signed on the land. Plus, they are still involved in a lawsuit over the rest of the insurance money.

If I was Six Flags, I would give the park away to anyone that would takeover the lease. Take out any rides you can and just take the loss. They are paying on the land every year.

I really doubt they would give us the Boomerang after the fact that we just had one removed even though it's a different model. If that mouse still worked, I'm quite surprised they didn't move that to one of the parks. The flats aren't probably worth the money because you could just buy one cheaper (They might need new stuff because of the water.) except for those S&S towers that they are moving. Those things are expensive (S&S Towers). The park didn't look like it had a lot of good rides in my opinion. I don't think they should have ever bought it.

The first post on this post gives info on the cost to redo the park and why it has not sold.

Very interesting read and amazing to think they could even think of repairing MegaZeph.

The fact that I could not get the outside investors is true! (thank the banks and wall street for that) But at least I tried what have you done? The only thing keeping this park down is the will of a few people

The will of a few people? According to him earlier in that post at LEAST $55,000,000 on non-existant money on top of buying the lease from Six Flags, in New Orleans in this economy.

What a tool.

Agreed. He seems to be nothing more then a fan with a dream. Would be the same as me saying I had planned on buying Conneaut Lake Park but had problems getting the funding for it because of banks realizing that a 24 year old is not worth a 20 million dollar risk. Then, blaming realistic fans for the fact my loan was turned down.

I don't think that report is 100% accurate as I am sure some people in New Orleans would rather have less rides but better ones. Look at a park like Silverwood not a lot of rides or coasters but people from Idaho and Northwest USA love it.
