Got mine renewed for 55 bucks yesterday. I wasn't gonna get it renewed, but at the cost of one full price ticket...Then again, who the hell pays full price?

Prices are cheap for season passes because most people who buy a season pass use it 2 times a year. If they did not offer a low price less people would buy a pass, which may mean less people would visit the park. They need to get the attendance numbers up every year if they do not it looks bad for the company the stocks goes down even more. Also if you think about it, it does not really cost the park more money to run it if there are more people in the park. Also since it is so early before the parks open they offer them even cheaper because there may be several people who will purchase one and never use it. Why? They forget about it or they just don't want to go anymore, but Six Flags makes money. It is just the same as Gift cards, the stores love gift cards they sell you a piece of plastic that you give as a gift, and there are many Gift Cards that never get redeemed.

Just a thought: When does the park begin preparing for the new season? February? March?

^They started getting ready the day after the park closed. Landscaping won't be doing much until late February or March. But Rides Maintenance stays busy all winter.

Season passes pay for them selves after two visits to a theme park. So if you are an avid coaster rider it is a great deal.

On a average winter day, how many workers are at the park? Does anyone know how long/how much money it takes to plant all those flowers? When do the trains get added to the rides again? I know, I love those details.

On a average winter day, how many workers are at the park?

Theres the sales/admin staff, finance, marketing, HR, maintenence staff, fulltime employees from each dept (some have few, some have a lot), security, etc.

The flowers are grown in SFGAm's greenhouses which are next to Roaring Rapids, the trains are taken completely apart and inspected & repaired in the shop over the winter. Typically they get the rides running again awhile before the park opens because they need to cycle each train x amount of times and they need to train employees (which is why sometimes on opening day you'll see empty trains running, they trained the employees with 1 train op because the other one wasnt ready yet and is still logging cycles).

Season pass update-
the old graphic is up on the site include orange season pass during FF special
and another note is season pass parking pass is NOW $70 :!:

I would add opinion here-
a second parking pass should be half price $35 and parking pass lane when entering off grand Ave.
These improvements justify the cost increase!

Six Flags has done some down right stupid things, but this takes the cake. There is no, I repeat NO, reason parking should cost more then the pass. At 70 bucks, if you are someone visiting the park 2-10 times a year and this is the only SF park you are going to, park at Gurnee Mills and take the bus to the gate. It is $3 round trip and only a little bit of a walk to the entrance. Right now, a family of 4 (assuming both kids are priced as adults via height) you are looking at $350 for season passes and parking on ONE card. Take on food and locker rental at the water park, you are looking at well over $400 the first visit.

I would also like to point out we are officially the most expensive Six Flags park to get a season pass and parking at. We are $15 more then Magic Mountain and New England, which are the next closest. I know Great Adventure is $17 more then ours, but they also get a wild life park as well. On top of that, if you choose not to go to the water park, it is cheaper.

So next year it is off to St. Louis to buy a 2010 pass. Taking the trip with the gas (can do round trip for 45), it is the same cost to buy 2 passes and parking on one there then Great America. Plus I get an afternoon there.

On a random note, Six Flags has some interesting ways of doing season passes and parking. At SF over Georgia, parking is right around $28 for the season. SF America has a Premium pass with extra benefits.
Some of the parks include the water parks. They really need to get on the ball and do everything the same across the board.

Yeah, $70 for a parking pass is nothing short of criminal. You gotta go 5 times for it to pay itself off assume regular parking stays at $15. I know at SFGAm it gets you $30 premium parking or however much it costs, but that benefit doesn't exist at any other park I've been to and it should be priced as such.

Hell for $70 you should be able to drive your car into the park and drive from ride to ride :)

SFStL is the better option, $45 for a parking pass (actually in 2007 for the 2008 season they had a deal for $25 parking passes for renewals), last year that benefit was gone. Though you can still get a season pass with parking for less than a one day admission to SFGAm if you play your cards right and play slightly less than fair :)

Get 3-4 people in a car and gas is cheap, and no hotel is needed if you got 2-4 drivers.

Honestly if I didn't get my 2009 pass at SFStL last year, and this was my only option now, I highly doubt I'd visit any SF park this year, SFGAm included.

I agree completely on that.

The non-preferred part at other parks really just made me mad. I spend $65 to park and then SF St. Louis tells me I have to spend $25 to park close. No thank you, I'll walk. I got lucky the last weekend there had under 400 people each day, as I would have lost it if I got there at opening and told I had to park a half mile away.

I think there is a post in this thread that talked about that. Someone complained and they refunded the money and gave them a free ticket. Might be worth a look.

I was kinda wondering about the tax. I don't live in Illinois and i thought you had to live in the state to get charged with tax. $9 for tax and $5 for print n go.

Theoretically you have to report the amount you should have been taxed yourself. Some companies don't want to mess with it and just tax you. However, if SF's parent company has any offices in the state you live in, they must charge state tax.

Most likely when BB and HH opens up daily near the end may or around fathers day weekend!
Some of the prices I like is - 6 pack= 6 flags. This supports bigger families members in the same household and buy online get a discount is like a the daily ticket offers.
