I dont tolerate ignorance which is becoming astoundingly prevalent around here.

^^^thanks guys all 2 of you.

But about this topic. I think that that might be a reason. The holding brake causes weight on the restraints and you could feel it on your chest. And the restraints can and will probably pop open soon because of that. I don't blame them if they don't want to get sued.

Is there any word if they are going to fix the break. V2 seems to run fine with out it.

Of course since it is part of the ride. I am surprised it took them so long and it didn't get fixed in time before this season ended. It doesn't make a huge difference but it was always nice to have a few seconds were you just hang there and looked below at all the people. There is no reason why it wouldn't be fixed by April/May. Not the most important part of off-season responsibilities but still needs to get done.

I keep hearing how Six Flags is so broke, I figured they might not fix it. I enjoy the brake on the ride but kinda takes a way from the free-fall. Kinda happy i got to ride it both way's , The break sound is kind of intimidating but very cool. Waaaaaaaaa

Yeah, I kind of have doubts of it being fixed next year....those cost a lot to replace and just the use.

Well, it is not like they are spending 10 million on Buccaneer Battle...And it looks like that is the only thing they are doing for 2009. :(

I really don't see any point in SF fixing the holding brake, the line was equally long with and without the brake. Six Flags really has no incentive what so ever to fix it, ride runs just fine without it, and a heck of a lot cheaper, that split second of hold burns through a lot of electricity.

^That's a good point. People aren't going to stop riding V2 because it's off.

Since it was always a feature of the ride and most people who ride V2 know about it, it seems dumb to never fix it. Of all the things the park can do for 09 and will probably not do, this would be a nice fix.

In line this year, I heard quite a number of people talk about them stopping in the air, and them being suprised when it didn't. For some people, it could have been their favorite part of the ride. I don't know. I would have to survey people (which I'm not going to do).

Even my brother who knows very little about coasters admitted he noticed how it wasn't working. Can someone contact Brook Gabbert or maybe I will and ask her? I think she is the one who answers emails.

There's really two things that people identify with V2, the launch and the holding break. The spiral looks cool but doesn't grab people's attention. If the holding break were to leave, then the ride would drastically change in my mind. The ride itself is fun, the holding break makes it a thrill ride. It makes people second-guess whether they should ride it.

It's...kind of a big deal [/ronburgundy]

^I kind of agree. I know my friend didn't want to ride it because he thought the holding break was going to crush his balls...like on Deja Vu.

The reason that they're not fixing it is probably because it's saving them a lot of money. SF is trying to make cuts at all their parks, so there's not point of spending money for a holding brake.

It's all about the launch for me. When I went, my friends were talking about how there isn't a holding break anymore, but in the end, they didn't really care. Personally, the holding break added that 2nd cool feeling to the ride, so I would like it back. It gave me that feeling of being on the edge, just falling into my restraints knowing it's the only thing holding me in at the point. So I would personally like it back, but my views on the ride wouldn't change that much.

I rode it without the holding break, and it was like an 8/10 before, and without the holding break, it was like a 7/10, so not that big of a difference. I still ride it for the launch.

^All we would have had to do is have a 150ft height limit clearance.

They did have a V2 like ours...they were clones. But the city found out that it reached past the 150ft (or whatever height it was) and made them re-profile the ride.

If that V2 was put in, they'd have to tear out Yankee Clipper and maybe Logger's, too.

I wouldn't put money on that.

And it would just go out over logger's run's exit, nothing else.
