The 2009 schedule is up, and Opening Day is officially . . . . Friday April 3rd, 2009. Hours for Opening Day are 10:00AM-7:00PM. The April schedule is 10-7 on Saturdays and Fridays (3rd and 10th, closed all other Fridays). Sunday of Opening Weekend is 10-5, the following Sundays are 10-6. The buyouts are the same as usual, the weekend of the 25th and 26th is closed for private events.
The park is open daily from May 13th - September 7th. This is different as the last 2 years, the park was closed Monday and Tuesday before Memorial Day, and closed the last Thursday and Friday of August.
As for hours, I didn't notice any cuts. In fact, they have actually extended hours on some of the weekdays in May. Fright Fest starts on Friday, October 2nd, so which ever company it is that usually rents the park that night must have cancelled. Sundays during Fright Fest are now 10:00AM-9:00PM (Sunday the 11th is 10:00AM-10:00PM because of Columbus Day). Closing Day is as expected, November 1st (10:00AM-9:00PM).

Why is the park only open on Saturday's from 10 to 9, why did they cut back an hour? Oh wait I was looking at that wrong, it is open 10 to 10 starting at the end of June..I forgot about that
It looks to be an interesting season, but there's bound to be changes because I don't think I've ever seen a operational schedule posted this early for them, but I guess I have to consider the fact they open earlier. The park really must be budgeting for lots of extra hours this winter if they want anything to look semi put together for opening weekend.
They do seem to have anywhere between 10,000-15,000 flowers planted every year. It doesn't ALL have to be done by opening day. I don't expect the weather to be very cooperative so early though.
^^ Rides that are not affected by rain or cold: Columbia Carousel, Sky Trek Tower, Hometown Fun Machine, Triple Play, Orbit, Scenic Railroad, Chubasco, Giant Drop, Raceway, all of Wiggles except Cars, Fiddler's Fling, Whirligig, East River Crawler, Jester, Big Easy Balloons, King Chaos, Condor, Rue Le Dodge, and The Dark Knight Coaster.
Personally, I'm not worried about weather for the rides. I think the bigger issue will be finishing rehabs early enough. Perfect example of this would be this year when Bull's 3rd train was a month late, and other things that werent ready.
Giant Drop, Whirligig, King Chaos and Triple Play would suck to go on if it rained. I would never go on those. If Dark Knight is the only coaster running expect people to flee the park in record droves.

I have been on Whirligig, fiddlers fling, orleans orbit, big top aka richochet in the rain. Whirligig, fiddlers fling, and big top were all during fright fest this year.
Big top seems to have problems when operating during the rain. When I went on it the ride started to go and when it was about to go up and down the ride had a problem and it just kept going around and it took about five minuets for it to stop.
I also went on the Barney Oldfield Speedway when it was raining during fright fest. It was me and my friend. No one else was on the ride. It was real fun, we took a real long time to get around the track just one time. We obviously rode it more than once.
Whirligig and Fiddlers Fling during fright fest when it rains is not fun at all. Out of the two Whirligig was worse.
For Ricochet, all the rain goes in the middle of that ride, and it takes awhile to empty it out espcially if it's raining a lot. A cover might not be a bad idea, but they probably wouldn't want to spend the money on something in which not that many people would go on it when it's raining more heavily.

^They would probably have to build it themselves. I doubt Huss would make one for them.

Not entirely sure I understand Six Flags decision here, why add extra days when crowds will probably be minimal? I understand the Spring Break week, but not really the rest. I'm sure they will be marketing to the "staycation" crowd, but extra days in April and May aren't going to attract anyone, unless half the parks rides are closed (which is very possible, given the weather and lack of employees in April) Six Flags could end up losing more money than they gain...
Than again, they might be completely De-listed off the NYSE at this point anyway and not have enough cash to operate in 2 years, so who cares? Bring on the early coasters!

I don't think that will change and more than likely Buccaneer Battle will also open at 11 considering it is a water attraction and they wouldn't just open one ride in that area and have everyone else waiting for the other rides to open. Given that it is a new addition it will drive more people to that area. They wouldn't do that if everything else opens one hour later. I hope not at least. I think all the water rides open at 11 anyway.
