Gurnee Residents Quick Survey

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby onyxhotel08 on November 4th, 2008, 10:20 pm
How many people on this board actually live in Gurnee or very close by? Do you find yourself at all annoyed by the park sometimes? Do you find yourself thinking the noise is a bit loud sometimes? Does the traffic sometimes seem out of hand especially in the peak summer months? Does having the park nearby mean you make more visits? Are you able to walk to Six Flags? Would you approve if the park would want to build an even higher ride than STT? (I know it probably won't happen cause of O'Hare) How much does it suck when the season ends and you drive by the park everyday?

Thanks for taking the time out for this quick survey. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

While i dont live near the park, I was told that when STT was built, Ohare commission "convinced" Gurnee board to ensure nothing taller was built. That there is a law on the books on G-town that SFg cant build anything higher.

True?

I'd love to live closer, but the commute would be a killer
Is 2009 the last page in Chapter 10?

Gurnee resident for the past 5 years.

Do you find yourself at all annoyed by the park sometimes?
Annoyed, no. We moved here because of the school district, proximity to GA, and there is just so much to do up in Lake County.

Do you find yourself thinking the noise is a bit loud sometimes?
Live too far west to hear GA noise.

Does the traffic sometimes seem out of hand especially in the peak summer months?
I try to avoid Grand Ave at times when I know GA traffic will impact it.

Does having the park nearby mean you make more visits?
Of course! We entered the park on over 60 different days this year with our season pass. Living closely means that our visits are different than others. We tend to go and stay for anywhere from 1-3 hours. We typically avoid Saturdays in June-August. After work, we will go to the park 2-3 times a week from 7 till close. We like to think of GA as our local playground.

Are you able to walk to Six Flags?
No, we live on the west side, about 3 miles from the park.

Would you approve if the park would want to build an even higher ride than STT?
Doesn't pertain to me. I can see STT if I walk down my street, but can't see it from my property at all.

How much does it suck when the season ends and you drive by the park everyday?
Sucks much.

I would imagine that nothing will be taller than the tip of the flag on top of STT, but then again, if there was talk for something taller, it wouldn't be approves. Gurnee isn't the middle of nowhere, there are people living all around it, many public places, and so on. It's not like other theme parks, like Cedar Point, where it's a peninsula.

I have hear that though that nothing was allowed to be taller than STT.
