although I knew it was coming, I really am not crazy about this idea. I don't really go as much as I used to though, so I guess it's not really that big of a deal.

I think it's a great idea but in the wrong place.

I'm all for this attraction....

I just worry that the entire project will be cut back at/near the end due to budget...that would be the biggest let down for me. River Battle at Dollywood looks amazing, but somehow I can't see this one looking that way.

I think this is a perfect addition. just what the park needed. Something both families and teens can enjoy. You have to admit, it takes the place of Splashwater Falls well.

It's gonna throw a giant wrench into the "theming" of the area, but I don't mind it. One of the things Great America is lacking is an interactive ride, so this will fill that void.

^No, but it's a ride that people riding it, people waiting to ride it, and people watching it from the midway will be able to participate in. You know that little portion of Roaring Rapids with water guns on the sidewalk? That will essentially be the entire ride only slower and people on the ride can shoot back.

At least that's what I figure it's going to be. People will also be aiming at targets and such along the course of the ride, so maybe there's a score being kept as well. I don't know.

That is the only thing I do not like about water rides, they have to shut down during FF or when it gets cold.
I have to say that I did not want a splash battle but now that I look at it, it does seem kinda fun.

I'm glad we just won't have Gravel Jungle there anymore, I agree that is a good idea, but COUNTY FAIR??!!???!! come on put it in Yankee Harbor!!

And Bugs Bunny Natl park is near MB right...... and if both are removed that would leave a fairly large footprint......like new coaster sized......

^It is probebly in County Fair because that is the only spot big enough for a splash battle right now. Yes they could remove BBNP but that would cost them more money.

They might have been able to squeeze it in Yankee Harbor by V2's front spike.

Haha totally. I have this picture in my mind of like half done pirate ships, half the guns working, and a bunch of squeaking, but I'll know it when I see it.

^The worst that could could happen is if, like last year with TDK, we have a bad winter and they simply can't construct the ride by Opening Day.

And all weather predictions point to a bad winter so far, but they could be wrong, lets see "global warming" help us out here (if it exists(which it does not))

That's what I don't get. Why did a theme park near CHICAGO, which is a seasonal park, that has really cold winters and falls, invest in a huge waterpark, and is now investing in some more water rides. I understand the usual log flume, big splash ride, or even roaring rapids, but why a waterpark? In my mind, it's just not the best thing to be investing in, especially now since they are making it bigger. Also, I know a lot of people love it, and it's packed, but I just think they took a risk. People I know have never been to HH, and I have never been. It seems dirty. I wouldn't go into a pool that thousands of other people have been into each day.

Also, I really think SFGAm should start investing in all year things. Well, except winter of course. I think some cool flats would be a nice addition. Like a gyro swing. Those look amazing. Also I really think they should replace Giant Drop with a Gyro Drop, and keep the name, because after all of the accidents with rides like that, I think we should invest in a new one. They are started to look old and unreliable. Plus, those gyro drops look solid, and they can go taller. Also, add some new scenery to rides. Like, Raging Bull. Something just seems, un finished about it. And Demon. That should be a good themed ride, but the double corkscrew part can use some more stuff. And get rid of those stupid boat and car things. Like where you put a quarter in, and steer a car. Those piss me off.

And for the sake of man kind, lower the prices of water to at least $2.00 please.

I think S&S screamin swings would be really cool to add to the park!

^That's been said 9000000000000000 times. If you really like those screamin' swings, go to Silver Dollar City. It's a great ride but not a ride that belongs at Great America.

In 2005, as a direct result of Hurricane Harbor, SFGAm had a 24% increase in attendance. No idea what SFGAm could possibly have been thinking adding a water park

You really think the average park guest knows or cares about the differences between an Intamin Gyro-Drop and an Intamin 2nd Generation Freefall tower. Now that would be a bad business decision

Lol, ok these are just my opinions

And yeah, it would be a good idea, because my friends, and myself are regular guests, and my friends have no clue about roller coasters or rides or anything, and even they don't ride it sometimes because they heard about the girl getting her feet chopped off, and they don't ride it because they think it won't break at the end.

And I think maybe it was the idea of an addition that increased attendance. If we didn't put in HH, and added a whole new section to the park with a world class roller coaster, I am sure the attendance would have increase as well. It was the idea of a new addition to the park that attracted new visitors. I remember when raging bull was added EVERYONE I knew had to go there and ride it. I am sure if a WHOLE new section of the park was added, the same reaction would happen, and more and more people would travel to go experience it.

When TTD was built, I NEEDED to go out there and ride it, and I live in Chicago. And it's been open for quite a while, and I still NEED to go ride it. And now Maverick opened, and I need to go even more.

It didn't have to be a water park.
