Yankee, Logger's and Roaring Rapids

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Does anyone know when exactly Roaring Rapids, Logger's Run and Yankee Clipper usually close for the season? If I go in mid-September will they be open? Is it an annual thing or does it change every year?

It depends on weather/attendance. I would expect one of the flumes to be closed, but Rapids and one flume will probably be open.

Generally Yankee Clipper will close after Labor Day. Loggers run usually runs til the end of the regular season but is closed during fright fest, and Roaring Rapids runs weather permitting though the end of the season but lately has been closed for fright fest. I in the past it was open with red water and called blood river, but haven't done that in a few years now. And even though it isnt valid anymore, Splashwater Falls always ran during the regular season but was closed for fright fest.

I think it's a good bet in mid Sept Loggers Run will be open, and probably a 50/50 chance for Roaring Rapids, which will depend on weather.

That makes no sense why close one flume and still have the other open. I guess I have to get my fix of YC/LR this month. Probably August 17th.

Theres a few reasons:

1: Its cheaper to run one flume than both, and because they are similar rides if one is running and is a walk on they figure people wont care if the other is closed.
2: They can take some people from the flumes crew and train them for other rides since the water rides are not open during Fright Fest.

Last year it was planned to have Loggers open and Clipper closed, but at like 7:50 the maintenence guys working on Logger radio'd us and said "You sure Loggers is open today? The Necropolis gates are setup and closed and theres a whole bunch of crap sitting behind them" and it was like, okay guess Clippers open. They mustve not gotten the memo that said to NOT block that entrance  .

I sure hope they close Yankee Clipper and keep Logger's Run open this year. It's still soooo sad that Splashwater Falls is gone and its grave is such an eyesore.

You cant really notice it is gone. If someone has never been there before I think that they wouldnt even know that a ride was there.

Was splashwater falls the one with the bridge over it? I used to always get soaked on the bridge.

^^I really doubt that YC would be open on Wednesday anyway. It's low-staffing this week as all attractions won't be open, and YC is one of them which they probably wouldn't have open.

You would think that Great America would prepare for low staffing and do somthing to keep all of the rides open.

Most of the people who work there operating rides, stands, and restaurants are students, either in high school or college. There's not much they can do to solve that.

^Ya, but they could move workers around and make it so most rides can opperate. How many worker do they have on Bull, like 5. They only need 3, 2 to check lap bars and 1 to operate it. The other 2 can work at a different ride or stand or somthing.

I'd much rather have 5 people working one of the biggest and fastest rides in the park

There are minimum requirements for the staffing of each ride. For each ride there must at the very least be one person on platform for each train, so in the event of a ride stop each train can be staffed as well as a person at controls; I also believe there still needs to be a person on platform which puts the minimum staffing for Bull at 5.

Demon_07 went today and he said that it is still drained, so my guess is that it is done for the season.

the flumes are on a downhill slope, so they self-drain if they are not operating, just cause they are drained doesn't mean it's done for the year, just means it's not open at that exact moment

^ YC has been closed for a few days now and i don't realy think that they would open it when they only have a few days until it closes for the season.
