Is it possible?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Is it possible to put floorless coaster trains on Iron Wolf, or do both coasters have a different kind of track. I ask this because I think it would give a better ride experience!!

I think the track sizes are the same... BUT...The heart lining on a floor less coaster is lower than a stand up ... Making the ride extremely rough !

It might be possible to do it but six flags probably wouldnt....

they would have to buy the new trains, rebuild the entire station and probably something with the loading and unloading

but dont take my word for it im no pro...

Its possible, but in the long run SF would lose money.

Plus Id be happier if they just fixed the ones theyve got now...

like i sad on a different forum,
they are running intimin trains which are lighter than B&M trains(what IW actually should be running)

it had B&M trains for the beginning of its "life" that wore down the track at a normal rate giving the ride a certain smoothness, then for some reason they replaced them with lighter intimin trains, therefore they would not sit on the worn track correctly and will bounce around more, plus B&M trains have softer pads then intimin trains (from my experience) so if they put heavier B&M trains back on the ride should be smother,

and a paint job would be nice, but that probably wont happen.

Iron Wolf was B&M's first ever roller coaster, but before that they had worked for Intamin, and thats one of the reasons Iron Wolf runs (And I'm pretty sure has always run) Intamin trains. Look at picture of Intamin standups from the 80's then look at Iron Wolf, they are fairly similar in layouts, and probably the same in roughness.

It was their first coaster and they were emulating a creation that nobody buys anymore.

^You would be right. I emailed Six Flags recently about Iron Wolf and this is what they said.
When Iron Wolf opened at Six Flags Great America in April 1990, it was B&M's first coaster. Accordingly, they had not yet designed or produced their own trains for the ride. We have been using Intamin trains for Iron Wolf since it opened, and it would be costly and ultimately unnecessary to replace the trains with B&M's equivalents.

Nothing new for iron Wolf anytime soon. :(

^I would expect an answer like that. They'll say it's too costly to do that but yet they build TDK which was a complete flop. Same crap.

Iron Wolf needs a ton of work every spring on the footers and track just to get it to run during the season, and the ride is too old and not popular enough for an X treatment with new trains and re-branding of the ride so new trains wont happen.

^Well maybe if they gave the ride some much needed attention it will become more popular. I've never been on it but by the looks of the layout I think it has the potential to be an awesome ride. Sure a floorless would be cool, but getting new trains would be much easier.

I think they should have just replaced the trains and turned it into a dark ride, it would have been way more popular than the dark knight. Also, a floorless train would have a better heartline than a sit down train.
