Regular Flash Pass or GOLD Flash Pass on busy day?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby wishman35 on May 27th, 2008, 12:15 pm
Me and a friend have season passes so we figure one of the days we go, we will splurge for the flash pass to get on quicker.

My other friends bought a regular flash pass yesterday (oops, since there was no lines at all surprisingly on memorial day) .. and it seemed like it reserved you a time.

So does that mean the Gold just gets you up to that 15 minute mark automatically??

Is it worth the money?? A response would be much appreciated!

The Ex. on another thread was 15 min. (Gold) with a hour wait time Regular flash Pass. So that equals to reduced 75% wait time for a gold flash pass. Got the ideal now! You and 1 friend gets a Gold flash pass. The costs is $65. This is a new price from last year! Take $10 off using the coupon from season pass discount booklet and the total is $55 (maybe Tax Added). The other option is Regular flash pass is You and 1 friend is $30 -$10 coupon is $20.
There is one coupon per booklet.
The best bet to get flash pass reservation online first before getting to the park and pick it up before noon to guarantee a flash pass! Also get parking Voucher at same time if your don't have Parking pass added to your Season pass. Good Food Vouchers ,Too. So when your use get to park only money you will spending on Food, Games, or maybe Lockers.
The days I would suggest getting a gold Flash Pass is Saturdays, Fright Fest days, and Fathers Day( Bring a Friend for free Day). Fathers Day was busy with 2 miles Back up traffic exiting Grand Ave. from the South. All other days just get a Regular Flash Pass and that time get on a ride is just go a Flat , Bathroom, get food , Play Games, check out shops in the area maybe some nice coaster shirts this year!
Party all Night, Sleep all DAY!!!

so only Saturdays make it worth it?

I was thinking of going on my birthday which is Wednesday June 11th. But its a bring a friend free week with our books. Does the gold always allow you to go to the front meaning 15 minute mark (stairs on raging bull)

Lol it seems like it may or may not work well, but I just want to get on bull, old batman, superman and V2 fast

Save your money. SF markets the Flash Pass frivolously as the only way to have fun. I've been in walk on lines, but I can also wait an hour or two for a ride and still have a good day. The lines are never more than two hours for any ride, even during Fright Fest Saturdays. If you get bored in line, bring a book or a DS.

no reservation, you can just purchase the pass online...and then you can go in and pick it up.

Parking and Flash Passes online dont offer any discounts, only the ability to save the cash for other stuff at the park.

Any other opinions out there on the Flash Pass?

I couldn't agree more. Even if you only get one or two chances to go per year, the flash pass often ends up being a waste of money, assuming your goal is to just get on each ride once or twice. Also (correct me if I'm wrong), I believe a lot of WI high schools have exams that week, so that would narrow some of the crowds down.

By any means, I would at least wait until you get there to decide. Who knows? Maybe you end up getting a day like today where the longest wait (with the exception of TDK) is only 10 minutes or so.

The only time when I think that flashpass is really needed is read to succeed week, which can be horrendous with all the little kids wanting to use their coupons before they expire, or Fright Fest Saturdays. We got the gold pass on the busiest day of the year last year, and I don't think we waited more than 30 minutes for anything.

I say during those times, if you want to get on a lot of rides, then get it. Other times though, waiting isn't really bad if you know which rides have the long lines, and which ones don't.

Where on the site can you get a flash pass? In June, is it best to go on a Saturday or Sunday? I was there June 17th, 2007 (Last time I rode Splashwater falls :() and it was horrible. That day without a pass I got on Raging Bull, Viper, SWF, Logger's Run, Roaring Rapids, American Eagle, Demon and Giant Drop. Then August 12th I went without a pass and got on Deja Vu (crying), RB, Viper, Batman, V2, Demon, LR, YC, Giant Drop but i missed SUF, IW and I don't know about this: Was Splashwater Falls closed before or after August 12, 2007? I don't remember seeing it operate that day...

I agree with most of the people here, the Flash Pass is usually not worth it. The only days I would consider it to be worth it is like a Fright Fest Saturday. And if you've been to the park a few times already, there's really no point since you've already ridden most everything. I got the Gold Flash Pass last year during a Fright Fest Saturday, and I thought it was worth it.

And like a few other people said, wait til you get to the park to decide. You'll have to wait in the long line anyway for it (if a lot of people want it), and an online purchase doesn't guarantee you'll even get one.

If you pay for it online how can it not be guarenteed? What is the point then? Can someone tell me how the regular flash pass works? How do they decide who goes first? I remember seeing that on Raging Bull and thinking how it works.

The Flash Pass is simply a virtual line. You can put yourself in line from anywhere else in the park using the Q-Bot and then do other stuff until it tells you it's your time to ride. When it is your time, you just go up, they check to make sure it is actually your time to ride, and they let you cut most of the line. Somehow they measure the wait time and they input that into the Flash Pass system so that you wait about the same time as everyone else. The Flash Pass Gold actually cuts some of the wait time based on what the input into the system.

And from the Six Flags Website:
Redeem the Print-N-Go voucher at the park to receive The Flash Pass unit good for your entire party. Quantities limited. To guarantee your reservation, redeem The Flash Pass voucher before 12 Noon on the scheduled date of use.

the gold pass is amazing, when me and a friend got it, as soon as they let us on one ride we reserved the next and by the time we got off the current ride we were on it was time to get on the next

In the long run... Paying the extra cash to get the GOLD Flash Pass, is just a better deal overall... SO many rides saved...

^You pretty much just summed it up right there! :D

Last year, how much did they cost? Did they raise the price? I remeber getting a gold flash pass (and loving it) for about $30.

So I'm going this Sunday. Finally. Between 2-4 would actually need a pass. I'm kind of concerned about the high cost of Gold but that gives you the opportunity to go everywhere. American Eagle is pass free right? It's not my favorite anyway.

Top 5 to go on right away:
#1 Superman
#2 Batman
#3 Vertical Velocity
#4 Raging Bull
#5 Iron Wolf

Here's my situation: We live in Michigan and will be passing through on July 3. We have 2 adults and 3 kids ( 9 yr - 56 in., 4 yr - 44 in and 1 yr). We will have 6-8 hours in the park. My 9 year old wants to ride Batman the ride, Superman, Iron Wolf, Ragin' Cajun, Raging Bull and Vertical Velocity (and maybe Dark Knight).

The problem is 1 adult must sit with the 2 younger kids while 1 adult takes my son on these ride. Even if it's not busy, should I get a Fast Pass (or even a Gold pass), just to maxamize the rides and minimize 3 of us sitting around?

Another added issue is that my 4 year old LOVES coasters as well and doesn't quit understand why he can't ride all of the rides with his older brother. Sitting and watching drives hm crazy.

Thanks for any advice!
