What is the typical wait time for the slides? Is it worth going? Do you actually have some space? I heard the limit is 7,200 people. Is that true? Has any1 gone to HH and then into the park on a ride? Could you basically spend the whole day at the water park? I'm thinkin about goin for a little bit in the summer since my sister-in-law hates the coasters. I don't know if I would want to be there long though.
Depends on the slide. Tornado can be anywhere between 30 to 45 minutes on a normal summer day.
If you like waterparks... definately
If it's an average day there should be plenty of chairs.

There are plenty of seats and there are concession stands, restrooms and lockers. There is also a smoking area by the bar "Saltwater Sals" I think it's called.
We often go back and forth between the park and the harbor. You have to put a shirt/shoes on while in the park. There is a sign that says the limit is 7200 and I have seen them close the entrance on a busy summer day when the turnstile count gets to that point. But if you are there early enough, you should have no problem. The wait for most attractions in the water park is significantly less than the wait for major rides in the park. The only thing I have ever waited more than 10 minutes for was the Tornado and that was in it's first season. (It hurts your back and tears your clothes, so most people try it once and that's it.) I only went on once and it felt like I had been in a boating accident afterwards, so I never went on it again. Hope that helps!
When I went Hurricane Harbor was super crowded. It was like a 45 minute wait for a45 second ride. Also the wave pool was PACKED! They had to get everyone out every 10 minutes to make sure no one got hurt. If you do go to HH be sure to go there at the right time.
Get to the park early then run to the entrance of HH. Get on all the best rides then leave once it starts to get crowded. Also, do not go on weekends, holidays, or events. That will assure you have the best time possible at HH. Works for me everytime I go.

When we go, we're there for two to three hours tops. It tends to get really busy a lot. We actually go in the early days that it's open, even if it's kind of crappy weather because it's not as crowded. Getting there early is always a plus. We always go to HH and then go back into the regular park. I think just going there to go to the waterpark is probably a waste. I think it gets a bit boring after awhile. If we want to go back to the theme park after the waterpark, we just get our hands stamped, put our stuff in the car, and come back in. Not a big deal at all.

I heard it was bad but not that bad what part of the slide hurts you like that?
It's not that bad. Sure, when you first hit the funnel itself you get a bit of a jolt, but I've ridden is many times and have had lots of fun. I've had no injuries or ripped clothes.

I really like the waterpark. I like to treat it as a seperate park, spending the day either there or in the main park. I'm actually more laid back in the waterpark, I have fun just hanging out.
Hurricane Harbor is great! I work all the time and never take vacations, so the 5-10 days I get to spend there throughout the summer is just perfect. I wish I could go everyday! I count down the days from the closing day until it reopens again.
I probably got injured because when I went on it, it was brand new, and they hadn't worked out all the bugs or it's because I am 6'2" and three hundred pounds and it's not designed (or I am not designed) for that kind of thing. Although I get bounced around for a living, so it was probably just a "newness" thing. Anyway, from my experiences, the first aid staff at Great America is better than the hospital (or lack thereof) in Gurnee. You are really safe there. So Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!
I've never had a chance to go into the waterpark, being that I live so far away and am concerned about riding the coasters. However, I'll definately make the effort.
