DejaVu2001 wrote:^ Lets see, Cedar Point is the roller coaster capital of the world. What are they getting this year? Oh yeah, their fourth kiddie area. When will you people accept the fact that the world does not revolve around coasters?
Never.
All kiddie areas do is bring families to the park. Families spend money. They are a cheap investment with a nice payout (Families spend way more than any demographic). So yeah, theme parks are going to put in several of these (see Wiggles World). Of course, I thought SFGAm was doing pretty well before. It's SFMM that needs the kiddie areas, not us.
Why not do something that Silver Dollar City and Dollywood did with a collection of family rides/ thrill rides/ and kids rides. I think Dollywood's Expansion only cost 5 Million.
The best addition was raging bull. The worst additon though was Rajin Cajun. Honestly that thing is a piece of crap and on an average attendance day you are guarunteed a 2-3 hour wait.
On an average attendance day, Cajun's line was normally only about 45 minutes. It depends on who's operating and who's on platform getting the riders situated quick enough.
Anyways...
Best addition was Hurricane Harbor. The Chicago area had needed a waterpark of that size for years and now it has sparked a boom in new waterparks in the Chicago area.
Worst addition in my opinion was Superman- Ultimate Flight. It got boring really quickly and it's to the point where it's not worth the 1 hour wait. If there's a line I won't bother standing in line for it. The novelty of it has pretty much worn off.
B:TR. was the first of its kind, obviously is very popular and still is and inspired too many clones to count at other SF parks, at least we can still say we have the original.
Not just Hurricane Harbor, but making Hurricane Harbor inclusive with the General Admission ticket.
Making the park more well rounded in the past few years.
Worst things.....
Taking away so many flats in the past few years(Cajun, Sky Whirl, Power Dive, HayBayler, Trailblazer, Ameri-Go-Round) and while most were replace with something, I still hope to see them make up and put some more flats in the future whether it be by where Vu and Splash were or where ever.
Toning down Fright Fest to near joke levels, Fright Fest was at its peak in the mid to late 90s and in a downfall ever since. At least bring back the Boo-Line if nothing else....
^I'd have to agree with you with Hurricane Harbor being included with admission being one of their best ideas. Even though prices are rising or are already high in other areas of the park, it's nice that they still manage to keep the waterpark free with admission.
Besides that, I think King Chaos was a welcome addition, we need more flats and its something different than everything else we have, while it did have a lot of downtime when it first rolled out its much better now and I don't see how you can complain, when not much else could go in that little space.
i just dont like Mardi Gras in general. i realize it's more of the "slower" rides and family oriented (well, the whole park is), but i really cant stand any of the rides.
then again, i don't remember what was there before the change.
and if they could have improved shockwave instead of putting SUF there...
Well maybe if people actually rode Shockwave when it was around...it might still be there today. Whether we like it or not (I don't), SUF always has a long line and is still somewhat popular.
Tatsu wouldn't work well at GAm. Like much of Illinois, GAm is too flat to have any terrain coasters, which is part of what's wrong with Superman. The design is based on the SFOG one, which has lot of near misses with the ground, making it superior to ours. Tatsu would be even worse.
I think if Great America really wanted to, they could add terrain and tunnels and special effects to the ride. Heck they could do it to alot of rides.
Iron Wolf: A Repaint and new trains. (Make it look like Shockwave with Blue Track and White Supports)
American Eagle: A Tunnel at the Bottom of the first drop.
Whizzer: A Tunnel at the final part of the helix.
Superman: A Tunnel before the helix, Flashing Lights around the Pretzel Loop, About 10 trees around the area, and a Splash Fountain area if possible.
Actually I'd rather have a Scream like ride OR an Xcellerator like ride where Shockwave was with tunnels, twists, and hills. (Something on the level to Challenge the Popularity Of Raging Bull)

I personally have been on both(I went on SFOG's version first and it has near misses, but the terrain isn't much different from ours. The near misses could have easily been duplicated with very small hills and they have a tunnel there too which was cool and what we should have had too. I could that with the theming and everything, more work was put into theirs than ours but it doesn't take away that much from ours.
For this particular season, I think Buccaneer Battle was a bust with the weather being cooler than normal. people also see how soaked you get just by walking by so it turns them away...the effects are ok but nothing that says it cost 5 million.
Dark Knight would have been great WITHOUT the preshow. Seriously, we have ALL seen it already! WHO will want to watch it AGAIN in 2012? Lines will continue to decrease till they decide to change somthing about that.
Little Dipper best decision since 2005 when Hurricane Harbor was put in. It has history and families will love it forever...
BEST: Bucaneer Battle you get so wet on this ride just once and you're soaked for the entire day. being open til 11pm during fright fest WORST: this is a toss up of Hurricane Harbor (not a waterpark person) and Deja Vu closing at 10 for fright fest 1$ lockers and all u get is 2 hours when lines can easily reach beyond that marker.
