Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I've done around 30-40 consecutive rides(however many rides you could get in about 2.5 hours without the seatbelts), though that was back when it was still relatively smooth, late 90's or so :)

Make sure you read this thread, and the posting rules. Otherwise you'll probably get a warning from a moderator/admin.

To add to the re-ride convorsation, you'd probably get a brain aneurism if you rode it for that long today...

Iron Wolf needs to be repainted by 2009. I'm thinking a silver/white theme or a silver/light blue theme. IW looks so faded and are you actually standing the entire time or are you hunched? Does it matter where you go? Where is more fun on Wolf?

I have started putting my hands between my head and the OTSR, like making a fist on each side locking my head in place. I find that's the only way to get a decent ride these days on that.

To get the best ride on IW is to stick your head out at the corkscrew then it does not hurt.

But if you press your head a gainst the head rest your head doesn't bang around as much. Then you don't get a headache and / or ears hurt.

Iron Wolf won't be leaving any time soon. It's still a popular ride that is still reliable, and it's not terribly rough. If SF was decent, they'd give it new trains and a new paint job.

Haha, I ride the Wolf only once when I visit, maybe twice but that's more pain from this unforgiving ride.

The headbanging aside, I can deal with that. That's because I know how.

That one other thing about the Wolf, I sometimes call it the "Nutcracker".
Beware of the final brakes at the end of the ride, it will hurt if you're not paying attention.

I do agree that IW should get a new paint job. But you learn how to ride the ride after a couple of times. But overall it is a great ride.

Why do people complain about head banging? If you keep your head against the headrest to start with there is minimal head banging, and if you know when head banging might possibly occur if you brace yourself you're perfectly fine. Though even if you don't and your head is how it should you should be fine. If your head is sticking out and you get your head banged around its no ones fault besides your own because you aren't even riding properly.

They are like nuts off corn and are like cooked and then salted.

To go along with all of this head banging stuff, the last time I was on Iron Wolf, 2 teens behind me got off screaming bloody murder about their ears, while an old lady (at least 75) got of and wanted to ride again!

Ahhh, good times!

I think its funny that they make "rough" rides with the CornNuts sponsorship. The bilboards even say "hold on to your ears"

This is totally improbable and maybe even impossible, but I think it would be cool to instead of tearing down wolf rehab it for a year or more and convert it from a stand up to a floorless. It has a few good elements and it would restore interest in an older type coaster. Like i said I think it would be a good idea but its probably not possible.
Remember, there's nothing but air beneath the chair.

^No, it's impossible. IW is designed for Stand-up trains. Floorless trains would do nothing but make the ride worse. Not to mention you'd have to re-do the entire station loading and unloading mechanisims and whatnot.
