I was sad when i heard of the accident, very much so.
Now did anyone notice, that at least 3 of the news stations in wisconsin reporting this said "He died while working on the Splashwater Falls ride, which Six Flags is removing for expansion"
So hmm, correct me if im blowing this way out of proportion but that sounds to me like, we could be getting another coaster or something, seeing as deja vu is also gone and thats a nice size chunk of land
It has been known for for a while now that Splashwater falls would not be back for 2008.
As far as what is going in its place? Nothing has been said as of yet, but you are correct in that removing Deja Vu and Splashwater Falls does open up some space for future expansion.

I thought it was 50 feet.

I think that they should take down Giant Drop and put up a Skyscraper in its place. Then they should buy a S&S Arrow Multi-Tower Space/turbo drop tower complex and put it in Splashwater Falls's old spot. They could find another park in the chain to put GD. I think that it would increase popularity and would help with riders per hour. Just a suggestion.
I dont know if a skyscraper would be a good choice for there. I could see putting one by Space Shuttle, but it would be a pain to take out Giant Drop....besides its still a popular ride.
It would be nice if they were are able to connect Vu's open space with SWF's open space and create a bigger coaster...Floorless? IDK, Dive Machines are just a one trick pony in my opinion.
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909 A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
two things getting taken out in the same area...thats a good observation.
I wonder what sfgam has up it's sleeve for that, esp. since they could easily move all those games near there too, plenty of room for something awesome.
What you don't understand you can make mean anything.

Aren't Floorless coasters one trick pony's too? Their a regular coaster without the floor. Which doesn't really affect much on the ride experience.
^^Floorless coasters have tons of inversions. They are very tall, fast, and smooth. Many are over 4,000 feet long. They are WAY better than "normal" coasters, and are not one trick pony's.
The new Dive Machines have two 90 degree drops, two immelman loops, and that's it. 90 degree drops aren't even that uncommon anymore. Maverick and many Euro-Fighters have 95 degree drops.
yes dive machines are the one trick ponies as said above
floorless are definitley not one trick ponies
Medusa and Scream!
loop
dive loop
camelback roll
cobra roll
interlocking corkscrews
better than anything in our park
and then dominator with it's gigantic loop
we need a new age looping coaster at our park
whether it be floorless or not
demon is getting quite old (nothing against it)
and IW is an old style coaster when was the last stand up coaster built?
sometime in the 90's?
In my opinion, Floorless coasters aren't much better than traditional sit-down coasters. (with inversions) I've even sat in the front row, and I don't think the ride experience is much different.
To get back on topic, I'm not going to miss SWF when it's gone...
We don't really have any traditional sit down coasters with inversions. I don't know if you all realized this, but with Vu gone, the largest number of inverts in the park is Five on Batman.
IF we ever get another big coaster, I would want it to be a floorless for that reason, It's a gimmick and chances are there would be around seven inversions.
If it's a dive machine, I'll probably ride it once.
Why do we fall, Master Bruce?
So we can learn to pick ourselves up.
