Park News - (3/12/2008) I’ve got sad news from Six Flags Great America to report today as a 46 year old park employee working on the team dismantling the Splashwater Falls ride fell 40 feet to his death yesterday morning. Our thoughts go out to his friends, family and coworkers over this terrible loss.

My prayers goes out to them.

I am wondering if there were any standard guideline for safety of dismantling/construction of the rides? I am also wondering if they install safety net which may cost more money for them but the safety of the workers will be higher than without one. I know the number are low of the workers being killed building or dismantling the rides. But let aim for zero. What is your "MHO" about this?

There is a safty guideline that osha has, anything over 6 feet must have guard rails or you must be tied off unless being tied off causes a bigger risk in injury.

so what happen here with this guy? In the article they mention that he has his harness on. I know this can happen to anybody but I think it should be taken seriously on this kind of job. Anyway... I'm just rambling here.
