Or with a nearby hotel, people will leave Great America, stay at KLC, and return to Great America with Few things to get their attention. Also probably an increase in 2 Day tickets and Season Passes. Sounds good to me.
I can really see it improving our attendance in the colder months. Go to Fright Fest for a day, then spend a day inside at an indoor waterpark. Especially since September is growing in attendance, and I'm sure April/May could benefit as well.
Sure, the waterpark itself is smaller compared to others, but if you read any of the media stories, you would know, that this is just the first phase of a massive expansion of this property.
They plan to add another indoor waterpark that is 30,000 square feet along with an outdoor one. They also plan on adding 200 more rooms.
And yes, with SFGAm, Keylime Cove, and Gurnee Mills, I see this as taking some customers from the Dells. Probably not enough for the Dells to get worried, but it will take some.
Based on their website and pics provided in the TR on this site, this property has alot more to offer in terms of variety compared to Great Wolf or Kalahari.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
You have to realize that not everyone that goes to the Dells is from Chicago Land area. You have a lot of times, foreigners, and people from other states. Dells should not be worried one bit.
As for six flags, I see this as a great attendance booster. I asked this in the other forum; Does anyone know if six flags has an advertising in Key Lime?
"KeyLime Cove, which Anderson once considered building about 15 miles north, in Kenosha, will be the largest water park resort in the Chicago area. Anderson and his partners, including Minneapolis-based Morrissey Hospitality Cos., expect to expand the hotel to 600 rooms, and the indoor water park to 100,000 square feet, within the next 12 months.
They also plan to boost meeting room space from 12,000 square feet to 80,000 square feet. Chicago has a huge meeting and convention market, and the additional meeting space will help KeyLime Cove grab a larger share of the business."
So within a year, this place will have a 100,000 square foot indoor waterpark. That's pretty decent sized.

But it was my understanding that the hotel water park was just for guests. Am I wrong? If it is just for guests, I can see a rise in two day passes at SFG. There is another waterpark hotel, in Arlington Hieghts at the Sheraton. Indoor, by the racetrack and just for guests.
It is, I believe I read that somewhere on the site too like they said for benefits of staying there guest are only allowed to enter our family indoor waterpark. It doesn't look like a good waterpark either. But that is where HH comes in, Only from the end of May to September though.

The Waterpark in Arlington hights is called Coco Keys. It does offer day passes. You do not have to stay there to play there. Link I was there a few weeks ago and had a blast.
The one in Arlington Heights is a fun but small waterpark. The price is actually a little high on the weekends, but weekdays, not a bad deal. That place really needs to get a wavepool and that place would be much more fun.
