Does anyone know if the palm trees at Hurricane Harbor are real, or what?
Are they tree's that have been chemically preserved or are they real tree's that get moved to a greenhouse during the winter, or are they replaced every year?
That is a very good question..... i'm actualy not sure. If i had to take a guess, i would say that they are either fake or real but stored in a green house for winter. I'll try and find out for you!
I thought they were real because they have burlap wrapped around the bottom. I figured they wheeled them into a greenhouse after each season. So one day I pulled a bit at the burlap and saw that the trunk is actually in the ground, so then I thought they once were real but somehow preserved. Beyond that I have no other information to go by. But I sure would like to know.
The palm trees are real, well at least they were the first two years. That was said during the Hurricane Harbor Construction Tour that some of the members, including myself, went to as a special event. They said that they would plant them in the summer and remove them in the winter and lay them down somewhere to survive the cold winters, or just bring in new ones, I really don't recall. But there are a few others here that may remember what exactly was said. But all in all, they are real.

All the Palms in Hurricane Harbor are real. Each winter the current ones die and then they are replaced every spring by the landscaping crew. Getting the trees in bulk is much cheaper for the park, even compared to having "fake" palms.
The problem is not only does the extra work have to go into protecting them still in the winter, but also they cost several times more than a standard palm.
Plus to most people they don't look like the Palm tree...

Besides getting new ones in just the winter, new palms are periodically brought in throughout the season as well, as they have a tendancy to look like death come september.
Captain, don't shake the passengers up too much this time! Just giving them their money's worth!
Thanks for the info! Now that I have read this string, it does occur to me that the tree's do seem to get a bit "ragged" by the end of the season.
I also noticed the ones near where I tend to sit seemed to be in different positions from the previous season but I assumed that my memory wasn't that good. I had seen a website that sells huge palm tree's that have been chemically preserved, and so that was what I figured was in place at the harbor.
Does anyone have a picture of Skull Island or any other part of HH covered in snow? I would be curious to see what that looks like.
Those palm trees are real but they are dead every day before the waterpark opens for buisness they spraypaint the leaves green so they look real. and I know this because I used the be a lifeguard there and I watched them do it
^NO, they are NOT. Two reasons- one : lets face it, they just cant be because theyre real. Two : Hes obviously lying any way cause employees (if he is one) cant say things like that anyway
