No although there were weekends last year in July and August where cars were being directed to the employee lot. Like I said, though, not worth a parking garage.
But, if they put in a few parking garages, instead of ACRES of parking lot, there would be more room for a new coaster, without tearing out another. Oh, gotta love those pipe dreams.
Welcome to ShockWave please pull your harness down as far as it will go. While riding ShockWave please keep your hands and feet inside the car, and your head against the headrest, please hold on to all loose articles, especially hats and glasses. Enjoy your ride!
what they need to do, which ive seen done alot in wisconsin, is change all the lights to green for people EXITING the parking lot, and keep them GREEN, and make everyone else wait.
they did this for Waukesha county fair once, they changed the intersection right there at the grounds to stay green.
it would empty the parking lot ALOT FASTER....so what if cars going north/south have to wait a 10 minutes.
Waukesha county fair was probably for one weekend. Six Flags is open every day for more than three months. That wouldn't work. And, yes, I would care if I had to wait 10 minutes. Besides it would still take much more than ten minutes to empty the lot. Six Flags isn't a county fair, it's a regional theme park with many more cars.

Well if you have noticed this year at parks closing they do have a traffice controller at Grand for exiting traffic. Officer has control over the lights as I've seen Light control panel open.
Yes, I have noticed that. I didn't know that the officer was the one that controlled how long the light was green, but regardless whether a computer or officer controls it, it's not green for 10 minutes.

We all wish
For the 1st time in awhile i actually walked through the parking lot and it really isnt that much of a walk. If you can't handle that much walking, you shouldnt even be at the park in the 1st place.

It might cost as much as $3 million or so (there are about 20 small houses that would be taken over and demolished plus the vacant land all the way to the north) plus expenses to actually build the lot (I have no idea how much that would cost) so it would be pretty expensive but probably much cheaper than a parking garage. Plus, if people are only coming for a few hours as many locals do they won't have to deal with the chaos of parking garages.
I would get so mad at six flags if they took over peoples houses to put in a parking lot. I hate that the goverment will alow retail places etc. to take houses and such just so they can get more tax money!!!!!!
And why not? It's all simple laws of supply and demand. If you lived in a house valued at $175,000 and were being offered $325,000 for it, why wouldn't you take the extra $150,000 and move someplace else? It has nothing to do with the government or taxes.
I know but when they put in the new walmart by me gave them below market value. Plus it may be a pain for them to move or it may be there childhood home. How would you feel if Wal-Mart came to your house and but a wrecking ball through it.
I highly support this entrance to use all year long!
Because of road construction in the area is a mess.
Reopened in 2006 after the Village required it be open.
A mess of traffic in 2005, when HH opens with record number of attendance!
Due to tollway and bridge constuction
Anyone coming from the north of the park, Gurnee Exit ramp to SFGA will be shut down as soon next week! The detour route is exit Hwy21 (Mke Ave.).
So an easy left turn Hwy. 21 to a left turn on Washintion Ave. and then right turn into six flags drive! Just follow the signs.
Also at the state line on exit on to Hwy. 41 is closed due to construction.
here is the trick. Exit Russell road, turn right Russell to Old 41. Then turn left past TA truckstop stay in left lane onto hwy 41. follow the signs to SFGA
I agree that the work on the Grand Ave Bridge is going to cause a lot of traffic issues. Good thing I know the local roads to take to get to and from the park.
To follow along, here is the link to the Illinois Tollway website in regards to the Grand Ave Bridge replacement.
^ Exactly. The project for that bridge is going to take over a year. At some point, it will be going on during the time the park is open.
Not much we can do about it. The advantage that all have is that we know the area around the park, and most of us know the local roads that we can take. For me, those include Green Bay Road, Hunt Club, Dilley's, or Delany Road and then make my way to the park via Washington Street. I don't have to take 41 or 94. However, a lot of people who come from WI, that's the only way they know.
When I was little, my parent would always take that way so we wont pay for parking because it was so far away from the entrance. All I know is is that is is mainly used for construction workers and all that stuff.
