Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I thought of this topic idea when I was working and I'm just curious as to what you guys think would have happened if Redzone/ Shapiro/ Snyder Purchased Six Flags Great America back in 1998 as opposed to Premier Parks Based on What He has done so far?

I got my computer set for maximum brightness. It doesn't seem to be working though.

I love it too, most of it. But if that was the case, Raging Bull MIGHT not have been built along with many others.

Raging Bull was in construction prior to the Premier Buyout.

From reading through CoasterBoy's post, although some of it doesn't make sense to me (Thomas instead of Wiggles -- why? They installed both of these areas in different parks last year. If they wanted Thomas for SFGAm, they could've had it for last year?), I would say that if that truly was what happened, I think that the parks would have been in better shape.

I guess that I would state that I doubt that the parks would be in however many billions of dollars worth of debt right now, since I don't think the current management would have wanted to assume that level of debt, or if they did that they would have a better plan to dig out of it.

We would have a large version of Kiddieland.

Ok, I'll bite. Superman, V2, Deja Vu might not have been built, but at least, one can assume, that the chain would not be in major debt that it is in now by throwing money at coaster after coaster, after coaster.
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.

I thought the Wiggle's Weren't really popular until 2005 or so, So if RedZone bought Six Flags in 1998, Thomas Town would have been added first.

After looking on Wikipedia I now stand corrected.

Sorry.

No need to be sorry, now I understand what you were saying -- that Thomas Town would have been added a while ago, and not last year. I thought that you were saying that Six Flags got "stuck" with the Wiggles this year instead of Thomas, but it was a choice as other parks got the Thomas areas this past year. No big deal either way.

Actually, having thought about this a bit more, I would bet that Deja Vu would not have been built at the parks (perhaps at all) as it seems that the additions lately are for proven rides from proven manufacturers. I doubt that they would have built four prototypes at the same time (remember, Six Flags ran that other park that got one too) and would have instead either just built one to see how it performed, or not any at all. And I sincerely doubt that Great America would have been the park to receive it if only one was built.

I would also guess that things would be more themed than they were during the Premier days. I guess we'll see how good or bad the Dark Knight really is, but even Wiggles World is a *giant* step up from the concrete and steel of the 2001 coasters.

Figured I'd point out that absolutely nothing said here is relevant to anything whatsoever.

What is happening now is an attempt at a turnaround for a heavily indebted Six Flags. If Redzone or some other financially responsible company had taken control of Six Flags in 1998/9 rather than Premeir stepping in and buying the chain entirely on a line of credit, then there would have been significantly less debt if any at all, and there would be an entirely different scenario where no one can guess what would have happened, and it wouldn't matter anyways cause it's not what happened.
