Ok.. I really did not get those seat belts anyways... I'm probably now about 180, if something would have happened.. There would have been NO way that seat belt was holding me in.
SFOG's opened without the seatbelt, customer feedback indicated that guests felt unsafe going up the first spike, so rather than listen to complaints they had seat belts installed, they really serve no purpose as it relates to safety as the crotch belt on the OTSR takes care of any danger of sliding out of the seat. They shouldn't have made a big deal about checking them, all it did was waste time.

I keep checking Vu, pretty much every day. So far it is still standing, at least from what I can see from outside the park. If I had to guess, there more then likely gutting areas around the station. I think the main parts of the ride will start coming down sometime this month or next month, depending on the weather.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/
i've only gone on it once. it was during fright fest 2007 and we were celebrating my birthday. we went on the viper, and at the end it broke down so we all got those "sorry for the inconvenience" passes that let you go on pretty much any ride you want almost right away. so we were pretty lucky. half of us had never been on it, and we were all glad to have ridden it at least once before they took it down. it was probably the best roller coaster i've been on at six flags, and i was so disappointed we werent ever gonna have the chance to ride it again seeing the line was about 2 1/2 hours at that point.
i'm not surprised they're tearing it down, really. it was closed about half of the time, and whenever it was open the lines were just insanely long because everyone wanted to ride it and they only have one train. still, it's a shame deja vu has to go...

That's what I meant by just for looks. So guests would feel safer.

we went on superman and i remember it broke down and our train was stuck in the brake run behind the station for about 45 minutes in the flight position. our necks hurt like hell for about a week. and they didnt give us sorry for the inconvienence passes!! i was so mad that we didnt get anything for being stuck that long

That. They should've gotten a pass for that.

Back in 1999, I was stuck at the top of Whizzer's lift for about 25 mins, with a thunderstorm coming. After the ride, we all got exit passes.
In 2005, I was stuck on Revolution for about 20 mins, and they did not give us passes for that. Same with S:UF at SFOG, we were stuck in the station in the flying position for about 15 mins, and no exit pass.
