Mean Streak has nothing, thats its problem. Roughness would be an improvement.

Demon is a smooth old looper compared to others. Shockwave was just poorly designed putting too many forces that some people couldn't handle.

Demon has a very simple layout so even if it's your first experience, you can still easilly escape the headbanging. Iron Wolf's a different story...

I guess it depends on what you call headbanging. My head was always bobbing off of the headrest...

I think it might depend on height.

You have to pretend like you're on a motorcycle and lean whichever way the track is going. That worked pretty well for me when we still had shockwave. I won't ride Iron Wolf anymore though because of how rough it has gotten...or maybe I'm just getting older and don't like being jolted around anymore.

Everybody on these forums doesn't understand that a lot of people do indeed experience head banging while on Demon - particularly those who have not ridden it too many times and forget to lean in the same direction that the track is going.
One more thing, if you are short (like myself) it is much easier to experience head banging, particularly when your head does rise completely from the OTSR and part of the harness is aligned with your head.

They should put up a sign to put your head forward or to the right.

^Sounds like a good idea, while they are at it, they can put a sign in IW's station saying "Turn back now before it's too late!"

Were the old restraints less headbanging?

The original restraints on IW were wider gave your head more room to move before hitting anything (which it rarely did)

if restraints get to soft then if you hit your head on it it can make a seal between your ear and the padding and that wouldn't result in anything good.

Also it seems the more padding you add the narrower the restraint gets and the more head banging you get, good examples of that are the Vekoma SLC and the old Premier OTSR's.

Also softer padding is less durable and soft stuff tends to absorb everything that touches it especially if it isnt kept in good shape, example of that is at the former Six Flags Belgium the OTSR padding was in bad shape, damp and it smelled like rotting cheese sitting in the sun. not all that pleasant.

I thought Deja Vu had some soft OTSRs, and Demon's are perfect for headbanging, cause it takes a lot of movement to make contact, so those i think work farely well too.

just to throw something out there with demon i read at a very very reliable source (screamscape)...... apparently demon is on a 3-5 year plan on getting renovated and stuff, just like shockwave is at SFoT. I wonder how they can change the ride.... that is, if they do it! Just something to throw out here
