Oh please, I hope not, I hope not, cause I feel sorry for those who fall victim to those prices. I myself don't eat in the park with the exception of last Columbus Day. No wonder people either pack lunches and eat in the parking lot or go to the strip malls across Grand Ave.
I'm putting my hopes up that they don't, but with the price of crude oil and Six Flags still in debt, they might have too. But they might not. Let's hope not.

Hear ye, hear ye: "After 45 years, Six Flags has stopped smoking."
Sometimes I wonder what really gets them more money in the long run - making the food price go up or making it go down? Because if you make it go down more people will buy things.
if they cut food prices they would end up making more $$ there wouldnt be streams of people leaving the park to eat elsewhere if they didn't soak you for the better part of $20 for a burger fries and drink.

Smaller prices doesn;t always mean that they will sell more. Sure, they'll sell more food through us people who are smarter than falling into their price traps but the families who go there once a year usually will say "Well, we only do it once a year" and they'll just keep buying food. The more demand there is for food items, the higher the prices are going to be because the people at SF know that people will keep buying no matter what because, well, everyone gets hungry. They ca get away with price increases becauseof that.
Yeah, I work with a mom of 2 and she was telling me about her visit. I was like, I go about once a week, or every other week. And she was like, "I went 1 day with my family (4 people) and I spent about $400". I just told her I have a season pass and I buy food outside the park. And it only costs me about $30 total.
So there you go...1 family of 4 will spend $400. Imagine all the families that will go there on a weekend......so why lower prices???
With raw food prices going up across the country, I'd imagine that Six Flags will follow suit. I rarely eat food in the park because of both the high prices and low quality. I wouldn't mind that much paying 20 bucks for a burger fries and drink if it was a good juicy burger (not burned and hours old), hot fries (not cold and limpy as you usually get) and free refills on soda (i know this really wouldn't work, but its the only justifiable way of wanting to sell a large soda for over four bucks). Six Flags needs to improve the quality of the food as well as the service if they want to be able to charge such high prices.
I usually eat Panda Express when i'm in the park because it's usually fairly fresh and of decent quality. I figure the exployees there at least have a reputation at stake (the Panda Express name). Whereas any other Six Flags stand really couldn't care less how much I enjoyed my food and if I would be back or not.
At a theme park I'm not sure the theory of Supply and Demand necessarily works as well. They practically have a monopoly on anyone that doesn't want to spend the time to leave the park...

I completely agree with Aaron084, If the food was good I wouldnt mind paying a premium for it even at current prices, and I bet most people would. Just look at Dollywood and SDC, but when you are served utter crap at 1/3'rd the quality and 3x the price of outside vendors, it just doesn't work out in any sort of logic I can come up with, and I've been known to bend the rules of logic now and then.

Wasn't that Cedar Fair's promo two years ago, not Six Flags?

Yes, I'm simply saying that If it had worked in a way that made a profit, they would still be doing it, therefore don't expect cheap food anytime soon.
^and to the post above me, Yes, Six Flags brings in Internationals because after they have to pay for their housing, which basically goes right back into six flags, they lose a lot less money on them then the domestic employees...Plus if someone has come from, say, Turkey, to work, they are more likely not to complain when you ask them to clean out something gross, where as someone who lives in Gurnee will say gross and have an international do it.
Captain, don't shake the passengers up too much this time! Just giving them their money's worth!
Yeah i agree the prices are way to high. Last season i stopped buying food there. I only buy food at the park when i can use the meal coupon. I think that it would be a bad idea to raise the prices. We pretty much all agree that the prices are too high and raising them even more may actually cause them to loose money. People would stop buying food and then there would be a surplus of food. The park would end up wasting money on getting all of the food.

Oh.......... believe me, it does. Of course, yes, people from out of state don't know about gurnee mills and such and will waste their money but I'm saying that that applies for the majority. Especially season pass holders.

The majority of guests aren't season pass holders, in fact, season passholders are the ones who leave the park usually because they know the area better. w00dland is 100% right.
Plus there is that inflation thing.

There are a lot of factors that play a part as to how much things cost. And supply and demand IS one of them. THink of how many vendors are in the park, if they dont supply the park, the cost will go up. If they can supply it but a lot of people buy it, the cost will STILL go up. THe only way a price will go down is if the people stop buying it. Lesser demand, lesser price.
And yes, you could say that it is a type of monopoly on customers. But isnt whats just going on. ITs a kind of trickory in a way. First of all, think about the one key thing in business. Location, location, location. Thats why all of the main food is toward the back so youre almsot forced to buy it once you get there. They also make it so if you dont buy the expensive food, you have to leave. One youre in the park, your at the mercy of the parks prices.
The sad thing is is that gam is a business. They dont care about the "guest", just their money. SO the more money they can get without a boycott coming out, they will do so. The same thing happens anywhere. And they have to buy things so the cost will go up still. Like i said, the only way for something to go down in price is for people to stop buying it. And at a place like gam, that wont happen.
From what I've noticed, drinks continue to go up faster than food itself. I wouldn't be suprised if drinks went up again and food stayed the same price.
