Deja Vu officially dead

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye.

Its only best that Vu leaves, and its a good decision for what will come. :D

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Deja Vu's Gone forever!

Oh well. I'll miss it, but I can't say that I didn't see it coming.
Guess the park should have kept Sky Whirl. It may have cost a lot to maintain, but hey, at least it was more reliable and family friendly, and a completely unique signature ride. Can't say Deja Vu was much of any of those things except just difficult and expensive from day one.

So......................................
Who wants to bet that they'll use the land from Deja Vu and the old Hometown Park area and build a massive Thomas Town?

DeJaByeBye. Amazingly I got to ride it 4X on Sunday. It will truly be missed. Hopefully SF will replace it with something better and reliable and for those who dont know Theater Royal is going too they announced it at the last show of Dead Mans Party which rocks better than LAFF in my opinion they announce it would be the last show in there. Bugs Bunny showed up at the beginning of the show and then the lights went out pretty emotional if anyone saw it. Probably to make room for Dark Knight coaster. Bye DV and Theater Royale youll both be missed.

Too bad- it was a fun ride when it was running, but obviously not the best designed ride. The biggest turnoff for me was the wait. I don't know how they would've done it, but it would've been great it they could've had some kind of a duel loading platform, like Mr. Freeze.

I wish they would've never remove Sky Whirl either, but that ride will never be coming back. Maybe us old Tidal Wave fans should petition Six Flags to bring our old Tidal Wave (aka Greezed Lightnin) back from Kentucky Kingdom (probably wouldn't fit there without taking out more of the area). I know that will never happen, but it's a fun thought, nonetheless!

I'm willing to bet that Tony Hawk will be going in DejaVu's spot in the near future.

Just had another fun thought that will never happen- our old Z-Force (Flashback at Magic Mountain) would also fit in that spot!

My money is still on Tony Hawk Big Spin, though. They're putting them in their parks left and right, and I'll bet Six Flags thinks that if they put another "family" coaster there, it will soften the blow and pave the way to remove the Whizzer. The problem is- the whole family can ride the Whizzer- with Tony Hawk, you need to be at least 42" tall.

BTW, nothing against the Big Spin coaster, but I'm still pissed that they tore down Wildcatter at SFOT this month for that "mall" coaster.

That would be 3 like rides... We already have Ragin Cajan and now The Dark Knight. Thomas the Choo Choo would be a better thing then that. Seriously now.. This still sucks that Deja is gone.

hahah.. I feel like I'm the only one who is really pissed about Deja leaving our park. It's cool though. Maybe we can get something good out of it. A B&M dive machine!!! That would be pretty sweet like sour fundip.

WHAT??????? I can't believe it's going. It was my favorite ride after Eagle... The weird thing is that when I went two weeks ago, I thought about buying a DV shot glass because I thought it would be going. I bought an Iron Wolf glass though because I thought that it would go before Vu. So long and thanks for the memories... :(

I heard several weeks ago that the DejaVus at both Georgia and Great America had been sold. So it is likely the buyers are ready and waiting. I also feel bad to see it go, not because it is going, but because of the great potential it had and was never able to live up to. That is truly sad.... My friends and I rode it just after 10PM Saturday night and said our goodbyes. We figure that if you were able to group together all the days the ride ran, over the 6 years it was here, it probably ran for 1.5 seasons. It not only ran sporadically, but the guest capacity was far below what it should have been. For those who think "Tony Hawk", no way. Same goes for Thomas. Watch the space where it stood carefully, because in 2009, something BIG is planned. Stay tuned! :)
We should all remember to be thankful to have a world-class theme park like Six Flags Great America here in our local area!

While I know a lot of people have pictures of Déjà Vu, I figured I would post a few of the ones that I copied from live.local.com.

First, looking east.

Next, looking to the west.

Finally, here is one that shows both Déjà Vu and Splashwater Falls.

I can't imagine the park without Vu.

I just can't.

I still have a hard time believing it's really going. Why would they tear it down from our park? I more expected SFMM's to be taken out.

I have said it maybe once but still, I would want this Ride either to replace DeJaVu or To replace Space Shuttle America if it ever were to get removed. This ride is perfect. It's below the supposed 145ft Height limit, its probably very quite so the village of Gurnee doesn't get upset, and probably has higher capacity then either DeJaVu or SSA. It also doesn't cost alot. What is this ride you ask?

I would actually find this a great replacement to either attraction.

- THERE IS NO RUMOR OF SPACE SHUTTLE AMERICA BEING REMOVED, I JUST THINK THAT THIS RIDE WOULD FIT THERE. I AM NOT TRYING TO START A RUMOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to Skyhawk, it's by far the best flat I've ever been on. It's simply sheer speed and height, no spinning so you can ride it again and again. I've always thought it'd make a great addition to the park. I highly doubt we'll ever see one though. Seems like family friendly micro-flats for us.

My friend Grubbs said something funny the other night at the ACE thing.

"Take a good look at Vu, because the next time you see it, it'll prolly be a tomato soup can."

Bummer Vu is going.... I never really rode it that much anyhow.

BTW for all the minors out there, they will be checking id's before you enter the que.

That would be hilarious.

Oh yeah, sorry to see it go - But we can do better than that ride anyways.

Get over yourselves? What's that supposed to mean... I'm just making a guess like everyone else.

I didn't say I wanted Tony Hawk, I'm just saying that Six Flags has been putting this coaster in several parks, and it would actually fit in the Vu space. Plus- it's another family coaster that could pave the way to removing Whizzer (which I'm definitely opposed to!). I'm not saying I want this to happen, because I don't, it just seemed like a good guess, based on what they've been doing lately. BTW, I wouldn't mind them removing Cajun for Tony Hawk, though, even though I could do without the skateboarding theme.

I think that the whole "Manual Mode" during the event was stupid. But I loved when the ride would catch of the catch car and everyone would be like "awwww.....damnit". I am pissed though that we didnt get a miscatch during the event. But there was one that I saw around 7:30 on tower 1. We ran over to it and saw it sitting in the brakes. Then watched it go back and forth for a while.

Skyhawk is pretty fun but it would be better if it had a longer cycle. I don't think GAm would add a screamin swing because it's not a family ride and it's loud. Skyhawk cost 6 million and GAm is getting the Dark Knight for 7.5 million so I think price is an issue. I think GAm would rather get a small family coaster for that kind of money instead of a flat ride.
