Dick Clark Productions

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I don't think that this topic has been done before, but I'm unsure. We all know that Six Flags is spending 175 Million to purchase Dick Clark Productions. Anyway, I heard that they were thinking about replacing a show or two at each Six Flags park with Video-Shows like:

- The Golden Globe Awards
- American Music Awards
- Academy of Country Music Awards
- New Year's Rockin' Eve
- American Bandstand
- Bloopers
- So You Think You Can Dance

Also, can they make the Ball Drop take place at Magic Mountain live, instead of forcing the entire pacific time zone to watch a time delayed replay of the east coast event. They could possibly charge higher admission because it would be a Special event.

Also, could they also make the ball drop at Great America, instead of Forcing the Midwest to watch the ball drop at New York, an hour before New Years. The park would be closed anyway.

Finally, if they buy Dick Clark Productions, I hope that they could make Theme Park documentaries of each Six Flags Park and put them on DVD. That way Six Flags can promote the parks, become a more rounded company, and increase revenue. This isn't rumored, it's just something I would like to see.

Anyway, What do you guys think about watching Video shows instead of Live Shows at the park?

I personally just think it would be strange. I love live shows, and just going somewhere to see a video show wouldn't really amuse me...maybe others. I'm not really amused by the pictorium shows these days, so I don't think i would be seeing them.... I just don't like the idea of putting award shows in theme parks. Doesn't make sense to me. I do like your idea about the ball drop for California though. That would be cool. Even if they did one here too, it sometimes sucks watching that happen when you know there's still a hour until midnight.

Expect a full revamp of Six Flags TV next year with the help of DCPI. And it they replace one of our live shows with one of the best of award shows I will never see it, find it to be a disgrace to our history of having great entertainment.

I think you may see some cross-promotion and more in park advertising that will ruin what theming we have or change a show that we now have, but overall it wont have much of a impact on SFGAM.

I'm a Theatre Geek, I've been working in theatres my whole life, Six Flags Shows aren't anywhere close to broadway standards, but what they are is a training ground. I hope that later in life that I may see some of the performers on broadway, television, or whatever career path they intend to persue. I wish them all luck.

I think we should poll Fiesta Texas Fans to see if they would want that or could handle that.

- Fiesta Texas has the worlds best shows if you didn't know.
