Hey, I'm planning to go to SFGAm for the first time ever on Oct 21, and since this is a SFGAm fansite, seems like a good place to ask for tips.
Questions:
1). How hard are Raging Bull's trim brakes? And if they're on, do I still get the amazing B&M floater airtime on the hills and good G's on the twists?
2). What order should I hit the coasters in?
3). For the flashpass coasters, do I get to choose the row I want to ride in or is there a special row for flashpass users? If some have special rows while others allow you to choose your seat, the list would be helpful
4). How has Deja Vu been this year in terms of reliability? Would be disappointed if it's down
5). What's the best place to eat at the park?
Any other helpful tips would be greatly appreciated
2)If u go early hit superman, batman, V2, Deja Vi (if its open), and demon first.
3)For flashpass you just get in a little a head of line, about half way through, and u chose the seats
4)Its been on and off
5)best place for milkshakes, Johnny rockets
american eagle u can get at almost any time with a small waid, wait till its dark for it, and iff u want to ride demon to its best, ride in the front, and at night, the wait might be a little long but its worth it.
"The rides are GREAT, The shows are GREAT, the fun is GREAT. At Marriott"s GREAT AMERICA!"
1 : Raging Bull's breaks are noticeable, but if you sit in the very back row, you will not be disappointed. The airtime will be based on how tight the restraint is. The final turns are really forceful.
2 : I would plan to ride the coasters clockwise. That way you can ride Superman and Ragin Cajun before the lines become impossible. You might also want to get there 40 to 90 minutes before the park opens. Also, if you don't have a season pass to Six Flags, buy your ticket online, that way you save 10+ dollars and everything is almost done.
3 : I'm sorry but I have never purchased FlashPass.
4 : For DeJaVu, I would recommend that you call them either that day or the day before to know.
5 : My best guess would be Mooseburger Lodge.
Hope this helps and have fun. Just don't expect the park to be Island's of Adventure or Cedar Point and you'll have a great time. One Last thing, even if you aren't a show person, Love At First Fright is a must see show. I would suggest you visit again during the summer to see what Six Flags did with Hurricane Harbor.
1.) Bull's trims can hit pretty hard (especially on the third hill) but sitting in the back will allow you to feel the trim the least and will allow you to get GREAT ejector air down the first drop and some decent floater air throughout the remainder of the ride.
2.) Definately start with Superman, Ragin' Cajun, and V2 in that order. Then hit Batman if you like before heading to the Eagle, because chances are it will only be running one side, and if it is you could be in that line for a long time. After that, hit the other rides in whatever order you see fit. Deja Vu's Line will be long all day, so hit it whenever you see it operating and feel up to it. The lines for Raging Bull and Batman move quickest. The lines for Whizzer, Demon, and Iron Wolf tend to die down faster than the lines for the other roller coasters once night falls.
3.) Users of the FlashPass are not assigned to any specific row. Most FlashPass lines take you to a point close to the station where you merge with the regular line. The FlashPass lines for Whizzer and Iron Wolf take you directly to the station. You will always be able to pick your row, though, no matter where the FlashPass meets the regular line.
4.) It has been relatively reliable, but Deja Vu is always a bit of a wild card. If you see it run, it is best to get in line and enjoy it before it potentially breaks down. But if it's closed all day, don't be too surprised either, and if it breaks down it may be shut down for the rest of the day. It's honestly luck more than anything else. If it's open, definately ride it, because it's an incredible ride, but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't cooperate.
5.) Eat whatever you like. All of the food is overpriced and not that great. Avoid Papa John's pizza- it is not at all worth it. Save money by asking for Ice Water (which is FREE) instead of buying a Coke.
Be aware that Fright Fest has the potential to be absolutely mobbed, so be sure to move quickly from each attraction to the next. I'm not sure if you're interested in any of the Fright Fest events, but if you are, note that the haunted walkthrough areas and the haunted houses open in the afternoon. The Haunted Houses cost $5 for one ticket before 5, 7 or 8 Dollars for one after 5, and $13 for both Haunted Houses. All of the walkthroughs and shows are free.
During Fright Fest, Six Flags does not allow Re-Entry past a certain time, so make sure that you have everything you need before the No Re-Entry Policy takes effect.
If you do get Flash pass, go ahead and spend the extra few dollars for gold, it is well worth it.
Deja Vu is scheduled to open all of FF, though it has a tough time running in colder weather, but they will work their best to get it up and going. Go there first if you are there for open, it will attract longer lines and that line moves really slow.
Getting to the park 10 minutes prior is plenty because most people that go to the right (which is where Deja Vu is) will head toward Raging Bull because they don't believe that Vu will be open.
For food, I would leave the park as my number one option, but you are looking for more rides... so inside the park:
-Panda Express (Just like the chain, but more expensive)
-Aunt Martha's (It's a chicken place, you get 2 legs when substituting for the one breast)
-Angelo's (It's pasta, the pasta isn't all that good but you can get a lot of food there)
-Johnny Rockets (very expensive but the food is good)
Those are most of the good places to eat in the park, the rest sell your burgers, hot dogs and normal park food. Just grab a map and that will help you decide.
The path that we usually take is walk from ride to ride in a row and ride those with short lines; I don't really wait that much, I have been on the rides many times. But your best bet would probably grabbing a Gold Flash Pass.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
1). You still get good airtime on the hills. The trims aren't very noticable. And they actually improve the airtime in the front row.
2). Get to the more popular coasters first. Hit up Deja Vu if it's open, then head over to Raging Bull. But I would suggest getting a FlashPass if your main intention is to ride.
3). FlashPass get's you ahead of the line, and you'll end up waiting only aorund 10 minutes. DEFINATLEY GET GOLD!
4). If it's raining it wont run. It probably wont run if gets below 50ish, which dosent seem like a problem lately.
5.) If you're looking for more food for your buck, go Angelos or Firehouse Pizza. Angelos has a "as much as we can pile on your plate" pasta deal. And Firehouse has a pretty decent size combo, with a good size slice of pizza, two things of cheesebread, and a big order of fries, for about the same price as Angelo's. Also, if you can get back into the park by 7pm, I'd suggest leaving the park to eat at Golden Corral right down the road. It's basically an Old Country Buffet on steroids.
I also suggest making time for the parks awesome Fright Fest shows!
Any other helpful tips would be greatly appreciated
!- The trims brakes are BAD, but even with them you still get great airtime in seated in the last row!!!
2- I would start by hitting Viper, then Raging Bull/Demon/AE etc and work your way around the park. If you see DeJaVue actually operating with people you want to run and try to get on beofre it breaks down again and due to its extremely slow loading/unloading system.
3- From watching people with flashpass you get to skip in line ahead of people but cant pick your row. No speical rows for flaspass.
4- It rarely opens when the park does and will be down far more than it is up.
It is a medicore ride that IMHO wont be missed unless you are trying to run up your coaster count. Skip it and ride BTR or Raging Bull a extra time or tow for the wait it will take unless you hit it just right.
5-As for food, if at all possible I would leave and get much better food outside the park, but if you must eat inside I would picl Mooseburger Lodge or Johnny Rockets.
All I can say is.
Bob O, you DO get to pick your row for Flashpass, considering you don't go up through the exit, and you just get let in the line at a certain point.
Next, stop the Vu hating seriously.
They cleared a full queue house in 20 minutes Saturday night. So don't even go off saying how bad the whole freekin ride is. It's been open EVERYDAY of Fright Fest so far.
I will go against everyone on here and say DO NOT do Superman first. I would actually do.....
-Raging Cajun first, because you can probably get first dispatch.
-V2, everyone will still be at Superman or getting to Cajun and you can re-ride in front and back row.
-Batman, Marathon this for at least three times because no one will be there
-DeJa Vu, *IF* running. Because it will probably be opened by then, if not.... head to South West territory.
-Viper, because it is still morning, you can probably get a walk on or a mild station wait....go to first car third row, for the ejector seat.
-Raging Bull, at this time, you will probably wait 20 mins which isnt that bad.
-American Eagle, it doesn't get lines until later in the afternoon so you should be able to re-ride.
See the problem with doing Superman first is that you miss out on re-rides for V2 and Batman.
Then you can do Lunch.
After that you can do Iron Wolf, Giant Drop, Demon, Whizzer in any order because those rides don't get big lines.
So now, you got on almost all the rides before *around* 2 PM. Then do what ever you want until you want to leave. I would suggest doing the flats at this time also.
Then if you want to ride Superman....you can make it your last ride of the night. Besides, riding it at night actually makes the ride fun because otherwise it is boring.
This plan is pretty much fool proof and I would get a Flash Pass unless you dont want to wait in lines during the late afternoon and night time.
I dont like a ride that is down more often than it operates!!! And they took away a excellant family ride to make way for a ride that is down way too often. I dont hate the ride, it is ok, but not worth much of a wait IMHO.
Last Friday it ran less than 1 hour (more like 1/2 hr)of the 6 hours the park was open, so to say it was open is a major stretch.!!!
IMHO it is a boring ride and way too similiar to V2, what the park needs is a good launched ride, something like Xcelerator rather than the 2 medicore ones we have.
As for picking rows, my understanding is that you join the main line and then can pick your row, but dont get skip privileges to the front of that row.
Bob O wrote:DeJaVue again didnt operate at all for FF on 10/19/07.
Yeah, I didn't I was there as well and they didnt show any signs of opening at all...basically abandoned the whole day no ops at the entrance or anythings. Kind of figured that since it was really windy and the chance of rain was probably a factor in it being closed.
If they were going to operate it fine, then they could have at least opened up both side of AE or used 3 trains on RB to pick up some of the crowds due to the ride being closed. I found the lines to be alot longer this Friday than last friday.
1. Don't start with Superman....when the gate drops everyone runs there and not even 10 minutes after open the line is to Condor.
2. I like to start at the front and make my way around. But if you want go for Bull or Vu (if open) The other rides during the summer aren't as long but during FF if you want to ride the rides then get the rides in ahead of time because Bull's line is massive and goes all the way back toward Viper.
3. The flat rides are fun as well. HTMF aka Hometown Fun Machine by Whizzer is a fun ride. ERC aka East River Crawler is fun too. FF aka Fiddlers Fling never been on it but i've heard it's an ok flat. KC aka King Chaos I won't go on it so I don't really know. Orbit is an ok flat and TP aka Triple Play is an ok flat too. If you like teacups go on Chubasco because I heard at FF it's incredibly fun.
4. Go see the shows. DMP aka Dead Man's Party is suppose to be good. LAFF aka Love at First Fright is ok this year, last year was better. Susan Rosen is very good. Haven't seen the Human Freak show but heard it's good.
5. Haunted houses/Haunted trails...if you like em go for it but I won't go but I heard Studio 13 is lame. Necropolis is good I liked it this year. Mausoliem of Terror won't go in but heard it's good. Rise of Demon...new haunted trail located by Demon is good Im going in next week so I'll tell you how it goes.
That's about all I have for now but if I think of more i'll pm you
Hit Deja vu first if running. Thif not make way to raging bull. Then do viper. Viper's lines are usually pretty short so you shouldn't have much trobule. Then go ride Eagle and Ironwolf. After that go ride batman followed by V2. Then do Rajun Cajun if you want to, but be warned, it will be a long wait. Finish with Superman if you reallly wanna ride it. Superman isn't that great at all so i would suggest you skip it. Only hit superman if you know you won't be coming back to Six flags great america for a second time.
