Dead Man's Party??

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby BoSox04 on September 16th, 2007, 11:01 pm
Hey guys, just moved from New York and I've never been to Fright fest here. My college buddies and I always went to Great Adventure for Fright Fest, mainly to see this wicked show Dead Man's Party. Basically it's an outdoor rock concert with TONS of lights, fog, and fire effects with a bunch of performers dancing to Evanescence's Bring Me to Life, Rob Zombie's Meet the Creeper, and Sweet's Ballroom Blitz, to name a few. (Check it out on YouTube if you haven't seen it). Just wondering if there is anything comprable here at Great America. I'm usually not that impressed with theme park shows, but this one is absolutely amazing, and am hoping there's a show similar here! My only gripe about the show is that they lip-synch (although there's a version in Georgia where they sing everything, which takes a lot more talent and is more fun to watch in my opinion). What can I expect in the area of entertainment when I go in a few weeks? Any insight would be great! Looking forward to fright fest in a new park, from what I've heard it's pretty BA here in Chicago.

Haha Dead Man's Party is an awesome song by an awesome band!

And our Halloween show is Love At First Fright.... it's kind of like your typical horror b-movie with musical numbers.

"It's a dead man's party. Who could ask for more? Everybody's coming, leave your body at the door. Leave your body and soul at the door!"

The Dark knight is going to be put where Theater Royal is. My friend who works there is upset because if this goes through next year there will only be The Grand Music Hall for live shows. So if anyone cares about Royal I urge you to express your concerns to guest relations in the front of the park so that maybe they will put The Dark Knight somewhere else.

Dead Man's Party will be in Theatre Royale.
I had the same assumption before after hearing Susan Rosen was in Southwest Ampitheatre.

Let me list the fright fest activities for you.

Carousel Plaza- (No Transformation)
Carousel Plaza features the normal blood pool as well as a huge new animatronic scarecrow, almost as tall as the carousel!
Superstition- Shuttle themed to Elvira's haunted theme park with new film, which takes you on the ride "The House of Superstition" The you enter under a ladder, with umbrellas open inside all over the ceiling. The pre-show area shows a film where Elvira talks to the people designing her park (Wolfman, Dracula, and Frankenstein) who come up with rides such as "Squeel of Torture" "It's a small small terrifying world" and more.
Haunted Castle 3-d- 3-d show in pictorium going through a haunted castle (Imagine that). There's one scene which suggests the devil torturing opera singers and is a little graphic, and personally a bit boring to me, but great 3-d visuals, especially of the exterior. If you take this as purely visual and disreguard the loose plot, it's good.

Hometown Square-(No Transformation)
Love at First Fright- Halloween show which invites you to spend the night with Jack and Katie...in a graveyard. LAFF is extremly popular and played to capacity crowds every sat/sun last year, arrive early to see this great show.
Zombie Jamboree Parade- Starring the cast of laff, this is the nighttime parade featuring all the ghosts and goblins of fright fest.
Illinois Trollway- On the bridge between HTS and County fair the trolls guard the bridge.
Coffin of Fear- lay in a coffin filled with meal worms for 1 minute and get a t-shirt and exit passes.
Wheel of fright- spin the wheel and eat some sort of gross-out food to get exit passes and a t-shirt. Gross-Out foods include the classic Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, Nightcrawlers, Rocky Mountain Oysters and more.

Southwest Territory- TINSLETOWN
Tinsletown features the dead actors and actresses and stagehands of the long abandoned studio 13. Features of this section include the Tinsletown Walk of Fame, Your horror Screen test, and more. All the Buildings have been named "studio 1-12" with 13 inside the arcade. It should be noted that the studio is fenced in including The Terror Twister Plaza and Studio 13, Raging Bull, Giant Drop, and Viper are not included in the Scare Zone.
Studio 13- The brand new haunted house in 2007 featuring 13 different rooms with 13 different horror films. nominal fee required. The films include "A Nightmare on Elm Street" "Saw" "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" "Friday the 13th" "The Ring" "Cujo" "The Excorcist" "Psycho" and more.
Your Horror Screen test-The head director of Studio 13, wants you star in his next smash horror film, this takes place on the streets of Tinsletown.
Terror Twister- Chubasco transformed! They close in the walls, blast techno music with crazy lights and smoke.
The Human Freak Show: It moves to the mission this year. See show guides for more details as i have never and dont' ever intend to see this show.
Susan Rosan: Mistress of Mesmerism- This year she's in the amphitheatre, it's a hillarious show to watch or participate in, Not sure how they deal with the sounds of roller coasters and the cold as you are supposed to concentrate really hard for it to work...
Snakes on a Train- Is not technicaly in Tinsletown, but anyway, it's viper with rubber snakes.

County Fair has two scare zones
RISE OF THE DEMON half
A haunted trail behind the rock wall takes you past the terrible industrial accident that created the demon. Low ceilings, loud noises, and four terrifying demons are sure to give you a fright in this free attraction.
Demon- Transformed for fright fest includes a new sign, the demon song, and lots of red lights and smoke.
Monstet market- they change the name of farmers market
Dead End drive- spooky halloween theming is added to raceway.
american eagle- the station is taken over by tiny and used as her nest, and therefore is covered in spiders.
Transylvannian Idol- Kareoke continues on the market stage...poor people have to listen to that whilst eating.

AREA 51 Half-
AREA 51 moves to the train station area in county fair featuring commando characters, and aliens alike. It seems like you really need to get into the theme of this section to make it work...gotta say the Scareacters missed the mark, but we'll see how things go over the next month.
The predator- Iron wolf gets a new theme to go along with area 51 this year. We don't really know if they're doing anything but change the sign.
Fliddler's Flung- Bodies are placed up against teh walls of fiddlers as if they were flung out of the cars
American Eagle- Who's station has been taken over, as tiny's nest.
Train- will be closed this year, sadly.

Yukon- No Transformation
All that really happens here is looney tunes dressed up in halloween apparel, but this year there will also be a trick-or-treat trail for kids, presumably in bbnp.

NECROPOLIS-
Picnic grove is transformed into the mythical haunted city of the dead. zombies prowl the streets and lead you to...
The Mausoleum of terror- additional fee required for this haunted house bringing you into the necropolis mausoleum.
This year, be sure to stray off the beaten path for several new show scenes where they normally house the Freak show, as it has moved to Tinsletown. For the squemish, note that the scareacters are more agressive in this area, and it's not recommended for children under 12. It's not really terribly scary if you are above twelve, but they really hit the spot in some places. The "Camo tunnel" you enter through with the living bushes is definetly a highlight.

Yankee Harbor is themed as usual featuring pirate flags, and skeletons.
Monster mash- ERC gets smoke and music.

CARNEVIL of DOOM
Thought was actually put into the mardi gras scare zone this year, with more then double the amount of clowns as last year here, fun house mirrors line the streets, and evil clowns look down at you.
Manny B. Monster Show- Manny B. and the gang doing halloween songs. I don't normally watch a whole show of Manny B. But i highly reccomend stopping for a few minutes. The bits they do are hillarious and they are really talented.

Seven Sins Cemetary- Orleans place
Orleans Gets a frightful transformation into a cemetary taken over by vampires and werewolves. I'm not sure how I like the set up this year, It seemed a bit cluttered, but I won't say anyting else, and let you draw your own conclusions in a week. But let me say this, if you're looking to get scared, by guess is the characters will be hovering outside theatre Royale.
The Birds- Condor will be haunted this year...we don't really know what they're doing yet, but I've heard there's a different ride cycle.
Rue le Morgue- Enclosed bumper cars with music and lights.
Dead Man's Party- A new musical revue in Theatre Royale. Based on last years show, and other parks dead man's party's you can guess it will include songs like "No one lives forever" "Bring me to life" "Ballroom blitz" "dead man's party" and others.

Edit: Made it slightly more easy to understand and fixed some mechanics as I wrote this very late at night.
Edit Again: Some of the shows have switched around. We know know that coffin/wheel will be in HTS, The Freak show in Tinsletown, and a few more details were added to scare zone reveiws.

I beleive that Coffin of Fear and Wheel of Fright will be in the mission behind chubby. However that is based solely on the fact that the cockroach eating was there last year, so don't take that as fact.

As far as Dead Man's Party (Long Live Boingo btw Director Guy)
I've seen the SFNE version and it includes
Bring me to Life
Dead Man's Party
Meet the Creeper/I'm your bogeyman (I honestly never pay attention to this part becaue I find the songs obnoxious so I don't know the titles those are just some lines I've notice a lot)
Halloween-(Aqua)
Feed My Frankenstein
No One Lives Forever
Ballroom Blitz

I have also heard that songs from Welcome to My Nightmare (The Trolley Show last year) may be incorporated as it is not returning.
Those songs inclue
Welcome to my Nightmare
Walking with a Zombie
Bad to the Bone
One Wild Night (If one is incorporated my guess is this one)

That's all I got right now.

Sorry for the double post, But I thought I'd post this little tidbit.
http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=50774&src=3

This article confirms that "Coffin of Fear" and "Wheel of Fright" will take place in Hometown Square at 7pm nightly, which makes me think "Your Horror Screen Test" whatever it is, will be in the mission.

It also confirms two more movies for Studio 13, The Excorcist, and Saw.
