Top Thrill Dragster at SFGAm?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

Yeah, from launch to brake it clocked at 16 seconds from the animated video. This has to be the shortest duration of a coaster. Heck , even the kiddie coasters last longer than this.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

lol... yeah the kiddie coasters do last longer. I dunno I just find it funny... but yeah I don't want anything like TTD at SFGAm, too short and not really that great. And why do people complain BTR being too short? Come on it goes at a fast speed, and yeah its kind of a short layout, but at least thats not 16 seconds long! lol, in my opinion BTR's layout is the best one out of all the invert's I've ever seen. Back to TTD... yeah 16 seconds long just won't do it for me. I don't like coasters that are under 50 seconds long...

I don't know if its the shortest duration, does anybody know how long Superman Ultimate Escape at SFMM lasts? It has to be pretty close.

Well Dave, take the fact that it says 0-100 mph in 7 seconds and than add the supposed 6.5 seconds of weightlessness. That gives you 13.5 seconds of the ride in forward motion. Not sure what the return trip would be but I believe S:TE overall would last longer than 16 seconds of which Dragster is supposed to be.

I think the 6.5 seconds of weightlessness counts the second you go to vertical to the second you start exiting vertical, so that would probably be 6.5+7+X. X would be the ammount of time to get back from the end of vertical. I'd say, like in RCT, it probably slows down faster than accelerates. Therefore I'd give it 10-12 seconds on the return lateral trip. That means STE would probably be about a 23-25 second ride.

Well Dave, that would be S:TE escape because S:UE is close to my house and is at SFWoA. But yes, anyhow, I don't think the duration of the coaster matters. I think it's the speed and intensity. I think any park could use a rocket coaster!

lol, Coasterzak....I mess up the Superman names all the time since theres so many of them.Since I made that post though, I was able to ride Superman: The Escape and would not want the ride at SFGAm. I wouldn't mind a decent sized Rocket coaster though...I really liked Xcelerator at Knotts and I think if they could add more to the coaster it would be a hell of a ride.

I agree with you Dave , which now gives us the option of wanting the new rocket coaster being installed at Hershey Park. That looks like it will be the best out of the bunch.

How about this for everyone.... SFGAm builds an overpass to the other side of the interstate and they build a 175 mph rocket coaster that goes 550 feet high, has 5 inversions and lasts 3 minutes without ANY delays or breakdowns..... . Wow that would be sweet...... I'd have to say the odds of this is happening is about 1,000,000,000,000 to 1.......

If it were to do a tophat over the highway then it would have to be pretty big.If we were to get a rocket then I would like it to be the height of TTD but a similar layout to Xcelerator. Big overbanked turns like on Xcelerator would be awesome. A few big drops here and there. I think it would be more fun if it didnt have any inversions. Ill just have to wait until I ride Hershey Park's new coaster to see if a rocket with our without inversions is better.

Heres the pic http://www.sfgamworld.com/Photos/SFGAmPics/Eagle/index.php?ishome=1&filename=Eagle2.jpg&filenumber=2. Is that road on the right side the other entrance? If so and not Wash St. then there plenty of room. But do they own the land to the right of that? If they do, they could easily put a Rocket there. Only problem, the line.

Yes, that is the access road off of Washington St.. They own the land up to Washington St.A rocket coaster could fit in there no problem. Question is, will they utilize that road again? Some here say the construction on Washington St. and Rte 21 is the reason for the access road being closed. I can't confirm that, but if it is, they will use this road again. If they dont, this is alot of potential land they could use for a coaster. It doesn't have to be a rocket. Heck, they could put in any type of coaster.

Yeah there's actually quite a bit of land on the other side of the Eagle. Lookie here: http://www.weezil.com/sfgam/sfgam3.htm . A lot of things could fit there; if it can be used for building, that is. With that and creatively using the surrounding area, a nice custom-designed coaster would be perfect there (Six Flags; custom layout; HA!). It could go over the Eagle in places and stuff. And who know how close to the road they can build. Idk. I really wish GAm was gonna put a new coaster in this year but I highly doubt it. Six Flags is doin really bad now with the state of the economy. It was said that few parks will be gettin too much here until the stock market is back up and everything. Who knows....

I wish we could get a custom coaster either next year or in 2005. If we were to get anything I know it would be for 2005 because of low attendance and money.

We aren't going to start this big debate again are we? I rode TTD twice and I thought it was the best ride I had ever ridden. I thought it was well worth the wait. I would love to see it at GA but sadly, it won't happen.
My Top 5: 1)TTD, 2)Millennium Force, 3)Raptor, 4)Deja Vu, 5)Raging Bull
