My first time to Fright Fest

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.
Postby ttd rox on September 12th, 2007, 5:12 pm
I don't know what I should do at FF 2007? It's my first time going to FF. I'm going on a Sunday. I'm going to Southwest Scare-a-tories first and riding Raging Bull. This may suprise you but it is also going to be my first time riding Giant Drop. It always looks fun but I go with my friend all the time and he wants to ride like Viper and Bull and doesn't want to ride Giant Drop. So when I go I'm going with my dad and my friend isn't going, finally. This is what I'm gonna ride in order. 1.Raging Bull 2. Viper 3. American Eagle 4. Vu 5. Possibly Demon if I feel like a headache 6. SUP 7. V2 8. ........................................ Also do the switch Demon's trains for Fright Fest to the classic trains? If they do, does the harness fit any better unlike the harnesses we have now? If there is anymore tips thank you very much!
Top 3 Steel Coasters: 1. The Incredible Hulk 2. Maverick 3. Dragon Challenge (Fireball)

Top 3 Wood Coasters: 1. The Beast 2. American Eagle (Red) 3. Hades

Between rides and what-not, I recommend you seeing LAFF, Susan Rosen, and walking threw Necropolis at least once (especially at night). Other than that I'm sure you'll have fun.

LAFF is the best...Necropolis yeah everyone else but me can have fun with that I'll pass. Susan Rosen is good. The rides at night are fun to ride it's so much fun. I like going to FF besides me halfway dying by being shoved into Necro...that's the only reason I hate FF because I get forced into Necro. So everyone but me can have Necro because I won't. Anyways enough about me....hope you have fun at FF this year.

If you plan to do either of the haunted houses, go through them during the day. They are enclosed, so it's still dark inside, but the lines are a lot shorter. Also, I suggest doing two walk-thrus of Necropolis. Once during the day, because you can see the decorations and scaractors better. Then once when it gets dark, because it's just more fun in the dark. :D

Seriously?

Wait, I mean . . . Seriously?!?!

You honestly think that the park has additional trains for that ride that are just left in storage? How many times was it discussed that The Demon was running with only 2 trains last season? How big of a deal did some people make when they put the red train back on this year? If they had additional trains in storage, don't you think that they would have been in use to get us up to three trains sooner?

In the past they've put a new decal on the front of the trains for Fright Fest, but with the current air brushed logos they don't need to do anything. The park only has the three trains for that ride.
RCDB says: "The Crystal Beach Cyclone is considered by many to be the most extreme roller coaster ever built."

Well, i will second the comment about going through Necropolis in the day and night. I definitely recommend doing the Mauseleum Haunted House at night and the other one during the day...cause you GOTTA hit at least ONE at night, and the Mauseleum is the "scariest one." I also would make sure to ride Demon, cause it's AMAZING during fright fest.

Also, i would recommend you put the rides on the back nine for the day, for fright fest, make sure you walk around the park and take it all in...THEN ride all the rides. Haunted Houses should be first priority cause they are pretty good.

Everyone says it's not scary but if you're a real fraidy cat like I am...it's ten times worse when you get the living daylights scared out of you and practically feel like you're gonna keel over dead. I refuse to go into a haunted house at FF because I am afraid of them. I have a bad phobia of them due to chainsaws so you'll catch me dead in Mausoleium of Terror. I like going to FF for the shows and seeing other people get scared...that's my entertainment and of course the rides. But haunted houses and Necropolis are my worst enemies.

I'm not necessarily scared of spooky stuff, I just hate stuff jumping out at me.

It's not too scary for the most part. Don't get me wrong, it's a great time and the scaractors and the guys in the haunted houses will make me jump a few times. It's just not the scariest Halloween attraction I've been to. If the creatures do jump out at you or startle you, don't run. They will chase you, and everyone else will laugh at you. You think the 13 year old girls would realize this half-way through the day, but no, they always run and scream their heads off.

Does anyone know how Fright Fest compares to Cedar Point's Halloweekends?

I can tell you in about two weeks. I've been going to Fright Fest since '95, and we're going to Halloweekends for the first time on the 29th and 30th, so maybe I'll do my first trip report ever when we get back. :D

I like Terror Twister.
Its Chubasco but with loud techno music, enclosed so its dark, smoke, and strobe lights....when you ride it you feel like you are drunk and you have no control.

I also like Superstition because it is unique and fun to do during fright fest. It is actually one of our traditions to do Superstition as our first thing.

And like everyone else has said Necropolis is cool especially at night!

But you will have a lot of fun when you go. But don't really expect to ride alot of coasters. If you have that mind set of "I am going to ride every coaster then you will not have a good time. Just plan on doing you favorite 3 or 4 coasters and then check out everything else. Then if theres time, then you will be happy because you got to ride more then you expected.

Wouldn't say its exactly like being drunk, but they're both fun in my opinion.

^Yep. Rue Le Morgue will be enclosed with a skeleton doctor "Operating" in the que area, bodys scattered about in the ride, body drawers on the walls and the whole thing is encased in black lights.
